It's incredible how cruel the professional world is. As a Canadian goalkeeper I moved over to Europe as soon as I graduated from high school, after 8 months of training I got invited to the Nike Acadamy trials in Copenhagen. Everything was lining up perfectly until 30 minutes before the end of the session, one of the other keepers left his water bottle on our goal line and as I was tipping a ball over the bar I landed on it and busted my ankle. That was game over for the tryouts. After that my visa was about to expire so I was forced to move back to North America. It's inspiring seeing players like Pontus but at the same time it's bittersweet knowing I could've been in that same position if it weren't for one small accident. For his sake I hope he doesn't have any injuries like I did, it's a tough tough business.

Cataklizum I did! I'm not at the same level technically as I was but my ankle is 100% now, it's just hard getting the same level of training here in Canada as a I got in Europe. I'm working on it though! I only moved back last April so I'm just working on getting back to the level I was at then hopefully I'll be able to find a semi-pro team for this year.

I live in Norrköping, where Pontus plays, and it's so weird seeing all these houses and places I see every day in a high budget documentary. Anyways, Pontus got sold to Rostov a few days ago for 4 million euro. Over here we're both excited for him and sad to see him leave. We always knew he was going to leave sooner or later for a bigger club, but it's nonetheless a shame to say goodbye. We have a few extremely talented young players at the club, real wonderkids, and they're all starting to reach that age where they leave to play in the continent. He's also started playing for the National Team, if anyone is curious

Hi Pontus, if you are reading this first of all I want to wish you good luck and I hope you will become a great football player. I found you on KZbin after searching for motivation videos. You are inspiring me as a person that works hard and knows that to go pro isn't just a dream but you have to work hard about it. I was playing on the streets of Greece because we couldn't afford the costs of playing in team until I got 14 and moved on Germany. I played for 1,5 years in an academy and in the winter break got transferred to the biggest team on the city. I work as hard as you, increasing my stamina, become stronger, push myself to the limit and get better every day. Keep going man I really enjoy you playing you have the tekkerz😉💯

17 years old, without a club at the moment, full of passion and willing to work as hard as people up there will tell me to. I feel like football is the only thing that can entertain me and can keep me happy throughout my life. I am a very athletic person, I love feeling my body and controlling it. I just want to play the beautiful game and be an example for children from my country, and for my parents, that don't really believe in me. I am working very hard every day, I plan to start playing competitive football from september. Good luck to everyone yrying to accomplish their dreams, may you give 200% of effort in training and be the best out there. Love you all.

For me, I don't want to be a world class player. I don't want to even be in the Premiere league, for example. I'd much rather play in the lower leagues like league one or league two. All I really want is something in a small stadium, having fun, a bit of competition, and getting paid for what I love to do.
@salas8242
@salas8242 7 жыл бұрын
Simon Atkinson don't play football because you want to get paid, play for the passion of the game. footballers nowadays only want money and it's ruining the sport. who cares if you're making jack shit playing football. would you rather do something you love and not get paid good or do something you hate and be miserable for the rest of your life but get paid a lot? do it for the love of the game and forget money in general

@eoighanmccloskey4288

Simon Atkinson it's okay to think that he has the wrong mentality however if you think about it, it's his career. He needs to be paid and well especially considering players retire younger than 40. This is why you hear of so many retired footballers going bankrupt because they cannot handle their money efficiently. However, going back to the original point, wanting to get paid to do something you love isn't a bad mentality, infact it should only push you further and harder. Look how many players come from poor backgrounds and bad childhoods. This is why so many pro footballers are from poorer areas, their desire to get paid for something you are good at. That's not to say there are players from well off backgrounds either, it's just that I'd say 90% of players come from poorer areas, my opinion just.

This video was a really cool way of showing how much hard work goes into becoming a professional player. He isnt a godlike human but just like each and every single one of us who has the hunger. There are many teenagers who want to become pro but he proves that he is willing to work hard and train hard. This showed me the lack of hunger and dedication in me to not reach my goals as I would like to play profesionally someday but I dont take it as serious, I will work hard.

I have been motivated most definitely, just unsure as to how to go about becoming pro in America. Club ? D1 ? Should I try and go overseas ? what's the best option ?
@ebrahimz6732
@ebrahimz6732 7 жыл бұрын
Jared Scott in America it's so easy. Because football is not popular in America. What I recommend you to do is to go to a club and for a club under your age. If your good you will get chosen and then maybe you will get to go to pro

Try to go D1 and if you go D1, you can register for the mls super draft at the end of your college career. Atleast this is what i'm trying to do

Bryan Lol its not eas. It sounds easy when you look at it in an outsiders perspective but if you live here there's so many politics hindering you from reaching that goal. ex. bad coaches. bad scouting, clubs and most academies cost thousands of dollars to join, and you need connections.
