I once made a teammate pretty mad by telling him to get up and not lay around on the ground while we were leading with 1 or 2 goals and playing an away game, because the referee would give us way more extra time than he could get us on the ground. I think I am pretty stupid. 3 years ago, I would usually play with the seniors and they would generally put me in a relatively attacking position. I knew about positioning but would knowingly stand behind the defenders so I would not get the ball. I was scared that I would miss any chances. But thank God, I overcome my fear and was ready for through balls.

Probably cause you said it in a negativ tone, so when he hear it it’s like complaint from the captain, and not something you could do better. Maybe instead of saying you want him to do this, you could ask him why he is not pasning the Ball there might be a reason. Maybe he wants to learn how to handle the ball on his own like try to pass a player. And dont tell him what he does is bad and hurt the team, that will just make it worse. As now he thinks what he does is wrong everytime he gets the ball. Just tell him it in a positiv way.

Mouthy teammates in general. Theyre always the same type. maybe some play experience in the past, out of shape burnouts in the present, mouthing off to opponents and refs everyplay. Its seriously dangerous. I got banned my 2nd coed season because these types had the opponents so riled up that one of the em intentionally punched my SO in the eye. She was just trying to get in between two of them to stop them fighting. I can communicate and give direction no problem but am otherwise pretty passive n prefer to let my play talk.
