Super interesting! It looks like it's including all required elements as you mention. I have always worked using many compressors in a chain by personal preference and choice, I love loooong chains but this is just me. It's because I can influence the sound that a compressor gives based on what's set in the chain of compressors prior to it and I like the infinite possibility of combinations and sound that this method allows, but definitely this one could be used anywhere in the chain so I may consider it. 25% discount now, great price for the quality. Thanks for your very instructive video! Best Regards from your friend François in Montreal, Canada! 🎼🃏🎶🎵🙏👍👍👍😁👋🌠

just wondering did you buy it? what are your thoughts now? I'm a/b ing with alpha here and they both sound great. Alpha has a certain pleasant squashing quality whilst remaining relativity clean at the same time. Just playing around with Unisum on the dense 3D preset and I'm getting lovey separation/clarity on the lows, kick and toms. Very "grabby" but transparent, definitely interesting. Shout out to TDR Molot GE too, checking it out now, worth a look.

@TheReal_E.IRIZARRY

Weiss DS1-MK3 "shaves off" the crests and troughs the LR or MS signal which nicely blends all the separate tracks and frequencies to place nicely together and transparently. Softube's Germanium Compressor and/or Drawmer 1973 FET Compresso, with Softube DS1-Mk3 and Tone Projects' Unisum Mast.Compressor and you are 85 percent of the way there to a final master based on the analog sound filters we all grew up hearing from MCA/Univerisal HiQ and Time Warner (now known as Warner Chappell) Dolby NR masters.

@@TheReal_E.IRIZARRY I'm listening back to the music " I grew up hearing" and that stuff doesn't sound nearly as good as the stuff from today. So why bother going back. It's less 3D, restricted range, less clarity, emotion. I'm referring to stuff from 1980 to 2000. The music is great, but it's hard to listen to today...all these so called "masterfully" mastered and mixed tracks... they had crappy gear...We have moved on and forward....we have better gear....

Hi David, I agree this compressor sounds insane. Quick question though, is it still worth it investing in this compressor for mastering duties while having analogue TK BC1 - THD unit (which I often use for subtle compression while mastering). Do you still find it useful to use UNISUM when you have many analogue compressors that you can use for mastering?? Thank you.

I mix into a compressor (hw) my Wes Audio Dione, among other things in my chain. 2bus compression or processing is NOT mastering. Mix compression does not have the same purpose of compression in mastering. With that said, could you use this compressor for mixing? Of course, but you wouldn't use it the same as you would in mastering. I have a video on the difference between 2bus processing and mastering. They are not the same thing
