Selective incorporation is something that college board loves to sneak in on their essays. Everyone make sure to know this, as well as McDonald v Chicago

"imminent lawless action"= clear and present danger. Mapp v. Ohio started the exclusionary rule. Gideon v. Wrainwright was free counsel only for criminal cases. McDonald v Chicago only applied to Illinois at the time. It opened a door though for other states to challenge gun laws and to apply it to their own states thru challenging them.

Elizabeth, you're right about Mapp and Gideon. "Imminent lawless action" is from Brandenberg v. Ohio (1969) and provides the current restriction on free speech. Clear and present danger is from Schenck v. U.S. (1919) and is not the current interpretation of speech, but you do need to know it for the AP exam. McDonald v. Chicago made the 2nd amendment binding on all states. Check out this link for more info on McDonald if you're interested. www.oyez.org/cases/2009/08-1521
