That’s a really good question. I did not catch the registration tag on boarding but I am going to guess that this plane we were on was put into service in the early 2000s. Perhaps part of the legacy Continental Airlines fleet?

I'm flying in a 777-200 from Denver to Cancun this December. Seat Guru had 4A as a good seat, so I picked it for both flights. Now I'm second guessing myself.

I've had 4L and 4A several times. It's a good seat. You're gonna like it.

Thanks for the vid. Just a tip/request: Please slow down your camera swinging around. Makes it hard for someone trying to figure out what seats to chose when you're going so fast, even with trying to pause the video. Don't mean to complain, just an idea for future videos.

Thank you, I understand your suggestion. The challenge is a couple fold. To get these type of videos, you have to be in the front of group 1. Behind you are many people hungry to board so I try to move fast. Your point is well taken and I will try for the next one.

@@OmarAlohaDude unfortunately I don't believe it includes all that nice stuff. It's just a 2.5 hour Denver to Houston. Which is why I was so shocked it's that kind of plane! It's in January though, so by then they might have swapped planes anyway. Thank you again for taking the time to make a video!

It's a very old plane and this is technically a business class cabin. This type of plane was originally meant for/used for international flights but most are now on domestic duty, replaced by newer models, and so now the seats are sold as first class. This is not typical United domestic first class. It's the first time I've come across this type of cabin for first, actually, and it's kinda driving me bonkers trying to decide where to sit and worrying about the seats in general.

It’s actually 2-4-2 in first and while I was initially skeptical, I think it’s a great product between domestic first and full on Polaris. The seats were actually very comfortable, though certainly not Polaris.

they only use this on flights to hawaii and other domestic destinations that need the capacity. No long haul flights. You will not see this on any long haul flight even east coast to hawaii

That was the most pathetic first class I have ever seen. It would be considered economy plus in airlines like Qatar/Emirates/Cathay.

Interesting, it is objectively WAY better than domestic First and this is largely a product that sits between domestic first and Polaris. I left out 4.5 hour flight a fan and would actively seek it out.
