Good call on that one. Though I was not born until the year "Solid Gold" went off of the air, I have seen some KZbin videos of "Solid Gold"'s openings and can definitely see some similarities. I have always thought that this music would go well with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson's NFL highlight segments on ESPN. I feel that the power of this music, coupled with Berman's deep, yet animated, voice and the epic nature of watching a battle on a football field, would be a match made in heaven.

I worked for UATC from 1986-1990 in Northern California (Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Jose), and this is not the policy trailer I played during those years.

I vaguely remember seeing this when I was about four years old (and even younger) I remember the one that they started using in 1989 more. There used to be 3 United artists Theaters in my city, but they all closed 8 years ago when newer multiplex theaters took away business.

@HCShannon Yes- they could use slides or video if they didn't have a 35mm film to show, or just use the theater for whatever. The last one I worked at had a church group rent one auditorium and they plugged a microphone into the sound system, and set up their own video projector in the theater.

I worked for UA Theaters (Movies At Eden Prairie East & West Eden Prairie, MN. Movies At Burnsville 1 "1 through 4 inside Burnsville Center" & 2 "5 though 8 outside the center" Burnsville, MN) on & off from 1989 to 2002. During 1997 to 1999 I was a projectionist & Assistant Manager for Eden Prairie West. I remember this Policy Trailer when I first started working at Movies At Burnsville 2 in 1989 It was just a bit different. Then they had the new 1989 one.

Thank you so much for your information. Given that the song can be found on a disc called "Motivational Sports," there is no longer any wonder why it would fit in one of Chris Berman and Tom Jackson's NFL highlight segments.

@Reed488 It's entirely possible the "Eastern Division" trailer was simply a later iteration of this one and used across the chain. There are a number of not only additions, but refinements to the animation. The transition between "Welcome to a UA Theatre" and "May We Suggest" is better in the "East" one, for starters.

The music on this trailer is titled "Energy III." It comes from the Network Music library (which is through Killer Tracks) and can be found on the disc "Motivational Sports" (NM037).

Craig Everett Palmer is a genius. Thanks to the wisdom of you and of "nxdat81" on the compilation video of General Cinemas trailers, I have learned that Palmer arranged "Ponderosa," "Energy III," and "New Horizons," all of which are great trailer themes.

Yes. Not just the policy trailers, though. EVERYTHING inside is branded Regal - the popcorn bags, the signage on top of the movie posters, the uniforms. Even the box office personnel greet each customer with "Welcome to Regal" these days. The only thing that still says "United Artists" is the signage outside.

@Madlax99 You are correct about the alternate version having more theater rules and a plug for gift certificates. Take a look at "Vintage United Artists Theatres policy trailer (Eastern division), 1977-89" here on KZbin.

@EdHavens I had a Cousin Who Worked For UA about the same time, she probably wouldn't remember the trailer that was used. Myself I somehow Vaguely remember seeing both versions of this Policy Trailer when I was younger. It also seems that the Eastern Division Trailer has more to it such as reminders to remain quiet during the feature presentation and gift certificates.

Well i was born before this was made. I do remember seeing this at an UA theatre on the east coast, unless they played this by mistake or for whatever reason. Of course, I'd see the Eastern Division version more. Long live United Artists. Screw Regal.

@juise15 That's cool, I remember that the Former UA Theaters in my city used to alternate between the 1989 policy, the 1992 Magic Hands policy, and the 1997 policy, but this 1977-89 policy was never thrown in the mix, and the 89 policy was phased out when the 1999 policy was created. How I do miss them, but I wonder if The reels with the policy trailer could be somewhere in the Old UA6 theater in storage that is now owned by a different company.

That's awesome. Is it the actual trailer or is it just shown alongside another actual trailer to enhance the experience? Where is the theater and what is it called? This is no doubt one of my all-time favorite movie theater trailers.

They did indeed. For some reason, I don't think, based on the tone of this trailer, that the "Escape to the movies" bumper would fit well with this trailer. As a result, in my opinion, good riddance to United Artists or the production company that made this trailer.
