United States Army Rangers | The Most Elite Fighting Force
The Rangers are the most elite large-scale fighting force the Army has to offer. Their mission, depending on the operation, can range from airfield seizure to special reconnaissance to direct action raids on select targets and individuals, and they have a rich operational history. Rangers are role model Soldiers mentally, morally, and physically. Being a Ranger is an honor shared by a distinct few.

SEAL's and Delta get the glam but it is these guy's that do the work. These are the guy's you send to rescue SF's that get into trouble. As a 10 year vet of the ADF i have worked with many U.S. forces and these are the pick of the litter and high in the world's top 5. They have over 20 years of continuous unbroken combat evolution and a very tough selection and training program that has also evolved to meet each new challenge.

SEALS, and DELTA are both copies of the SAS and Commandos. America's first special forces. The US Rangers were created, trained and advised by the British Army Commandos in 1942 Achnacarry Scotland. The 1st and 29th Rangers were born. Direct copies of the Commandos. These later used their new Commando skills to create the 2nd and 5th US Ranger Battalions in 1943 who participated in D day. "Ranger" was selected because of the British colonial Rogers Queens Rangers (Scottish border Rangers). 8 British advisors accompanied the US Rangers at Point Du Hoc aswell as 3 SWANS. The later US Green berets, Marine Raiders, US Seals/OG all trace their heritage back to the Commandos. US DELTA force was later modelled on the SAS 🇺🇸

A best friend from back when growing up, went into the 75th and was stationed in Kandahar. I connected with him jn grade school bc i shot shotguns in competition at that age and he was into guns as well already…course lol. He got a 35/36 on his ACT and went into a highly regarded university before going military and getting chosen after ranger school. They really do hand pick the cream of the crop.

Rangers are the most scalable, lethal, and universal direct action force the US has to offer. A Ranger Platoon can conduct a precision direct action raid on a single HVT, second to only CAG and ST6. A Ranger Company can conduct a movement to contact through a valley in Afghanistan or clear a small city in Iraq. A Ranger Battalion can conduct an airfield seizure on an international airport. The Ranger Regiment can go head to head with near pear infantry divisions even if outnumbered. Rangers are not operators, nor are they your basic grunt, but they truly are masters of the basics and have more combat experience than any unit since 9/11.

If you guys want to learn the colonial history of Rangers, I highly recommend the book “War on the Go.” It’s story of Robert Rogers, his formation of the Queen’s Rangers, and the brutal/vivid descriptions of the close combat between the Rangers and the Canadian/French with their Native American Allies. A truly amazing book that would get anyone to question their personal level of toughness. Robert Rogers is as tough, resilient, and cunning as they come. For any small unit leader that will read the book, you will realize that technology may change, but the brutality and nature of combat remains the same.

Robert Rogers easily changed sides. In the Revolutionary war, he volunteered himself and his Rangers to Washington to fight the British, but bcoz Washington refused due to his service with the British in the past (which I would be afraid he might be a spy or saboteur too), he ended up joining the British to fight Washington. So I wouldn't really consider Robert Rogers part of American lineage.

With the exclusion of airborne and wateborn requirements only any army conventional forces in the world that trained in the rest of Ranger combat schooling would be a formidable force to be reckoned with. Why exclude water and air schooling? These are expensive requirements as well as almost nonessential for self defense of a country and for majority of offenses really except in a small scale scenario/s.

IMC is definitely a step up from ITB, and it's good that we have formal courses for every tactical level infantry leader billet, but until we get the money, selection process, deployments, and personnel management policy of the Ranger Regiment, we'll always be behind them. Still, any improvement is better than no improvement. We have 8 active Regiments to man, so I'll happily take second place for best infantry behind the Rangers.

Nobody in the chain of command expects a boot grunt to excel because they cost peanuts to train and qualify (what equipment?). So, when so and so Marine infantry did something highly unusual due to moto overdose, it guarantees the hypage for the next cycle of recruit, RAH. On the other hand, an Army Ranger takes boucoup dollar to select, qualify, (and to outfit with proper tech). Everybody expect them to not fail. So, grunt has the potential to be better and a Ranger is always expected to be the best. Salty much, yes.

You're comparing regular forces to freaking Special Operations lmao.. The USMC doesn't even have a budget dude, they get Army hand me downs, and the left overs budget from the Navy.USMC Infantry is the same as Army Infantry. Only difference is that the Army has more variety of infantry. Army Infantry can be Airborne, Air Assault, Mechanized, Moutain, Heavy, Light, and Rangers.

I think many branches of the US armed forces are holding their status a little bit to high when it comes to "who is the best in the stall". My grandfather was combat medic in the Armored Airborne Division "HG" and fought at Gela, Salerno and Cisterna beside many other battles and was later from late 1944 with the reestablished 3. German Airborne Division until the end of WW2. They faced Army Rangers, the 1st SSF and when I am not wrong all Regiments of the 82nd Airborne while he was in Italy. He said, that it was the new zealandian GI who was the most bolt and toughess enemy he had faced. I do not have any intention to mock any soldier or unit but when I only see that one of the Army Rangers mottos is: "Surrender is not a Ranger word" and one of their biggest combat situation was when the 6615th Ranger Force got anhilated and two whole Ranger battalions surrendered, makes this whole cheering and awarding thing looking like a hoax. I am sure that the US Army Ranger are an outstanding military formation but it looks like a red line drawing itself through US military legacy that the highest achievements are pushed up until they even become sometimes ridiculous in their telling while defeats and bad outcomes are just pushed below the carpet of history. And fighting nowadays for decades against insurgents mostly equipped with cold war era small arms while having total air supremacy for your own doesn't make it look more shiny when looking on the outcome. Remember the fallen.

Highly doubtful that your grandfather said that, but then again, you came on here and wrote several paragraphs on why you think the Ranger Regiment holds itself too high on a pedestal, just to say you weren't trying to be disrespectful. If that were the case, you wouldn't have said anything at all. Now here's a key fact you seem to be forgetting, this ain't 1944 my guy, it's 2022. The Ranger Regiment has evolved several times since the Second World War, not to mention have fought in numerous wars since. The Ranger Regiment today is nothing like the 6615th was during the Battle of Cisterna in 1944. There isn't a single elite unit that doesn't have a blunder under its belt. The First Special Service Force (joint US/CAN force) had several incidents of friendly fire. The first mission launched by the SAS was a complete failure, with dozens of members dying during a combat jump. Does that take away from their elite status today? No, it doesn't. I'd also like to point out that Germany lost, so I'm not sure why you hold your grandfather's opinion so high when the other guy won, not your grandfather.

Is 2/75 still known as 2nd Aryan on Ft. Lewis? My first night there I had to listen to soldier talk about how much he hated having an N-word as BN CSM. Then he talked about holocaust denial. Then a team leader (N.L.) named his fire team 'Aryan Team'. I saw someone reading 'The Turner Diaries'. Then going to see 'friends' in Idaho (Hayden Lakes/Aryan Nations). One solider (M.S.) was going to have 'My Honor is My Loyalty' (SS motto) tattooed on him. Or is it less neo-Nazi these days?

I thought Navy Seals were the most elite fighting force....???? You need to fix that thumbnail..
@dallasyap3064
@dallasyap3064 2 жыл бұрын
Not really. Navy SEALs and Army Rangers are both tier 2 units, pretty much on the same par, except that Navy SEALs get the opportunity for more specialized training like freefall, diving, underwater demolition (given their nature as a maritime SOF), cold-weather and mountain training, tactical driving etc. Delta Force and SEAL Team 6 are the most elite in the US military.
@sqeekms6186
@sqeekms6186 2 жыл бұрын
@@dallasyap3064 you said not really but then at the end you said Delta Force and Navy Seals are the most elite so you kind of contradicted what you just said in the beginning.. if you ask the Navy SEAL he will tell you that Navy Seals are if you ask an army ranger he will tell you the army rangers are if you ask the Delta Force operator he will tell you that Delta Force is it's all in who you ask.. I served with Navy Seals and from what I see they are the most elite hands down... If you were going to compare then you would have to go MARSOC Marines ie force recon Marine raiders. They could be in the same category it's all on who you ask.. I personally think no one holds a candle to Navy Seals..
@dallasyap3064
@dallasyap3064 2 жыл бұрын
@@sqeekms6186 I think u seem to have misunderstood here. Navy SEALs are regular tier 2 SOF. They are a jack of all trades in maritime operations and few other other mission sets, although more focused on DA. SEAL Team 6 is a tier 1 unit, specifically trained to a higher level in counter-terrorism and hostage rescue. SEAL Team 6 is officially known as Naval Special Warfare Development Group, and they are technically not a SEAL Team. The reason why they are still known by SEAL Team 6 is bcoz that's their predecessor's name as well as their most famous name until today, but they are actually not a SEAL Team. So that's why I said Delta Force and SEAL Team 6 (not regular Navy SEALs) are the most elite units in the US military. Navy SEALs and Army Rangers are trained for different missions with some overlapping, that goes for Marine Raiders and Force Recons. Army Rangers, Green Berets, Navy SEALs, Marine Raiders etc are all tier 2 units. Although not part of SOCOM, some have considered Force Recons to be a tier 2 unit too due to their specialized skills and capabilities. Each serves their own purpose, but with some overlapping.
