Another great tutorial my friend. :) No doubt, your tutorials are always the best explained step-by-step! Keep up the good job!

Thanks a lot my friend! I will. I know you are searching for engine-features to create filmic stuff - what's your current choice?
@MrDanINSANE8 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome! :) Blender is my LOVE for creating the assets, but I still have much more to learn (I feel at home with Blender). It's a bit long but I'll share my opinions about this subject: For the Engine I'm interested in the Real-Time PBR, so Unreal Engine 4 is amazing but still a bit complicated and missing some features. And I'm considering Unity as soon as I'll actually see and try the new Sequencer Editor but it's not released yet from what I understood. CryEngine 5.3 is getting stronger, but I still can't import successfully Animated FBX or Alembic which should be easier in their newest release. (I'm sure you'll have better understanding and successful). So... I want to use the power of Baking (FBX and if possible, Alembic is my first choice for simulations). but still, none of these tools are 100% working on this section. Sorry about my bad English ;)

Your english is fine, no problem at all. And I know exactly what you are talking about. I really need to have a look at the Cryengine, I am very interested in that. And also alembic... Next tutorial will be scripting this door here, then I tun to alembic... til soon!

how do you import an object made of several objects , each having an animation in unity? for example i have a spaceship, i made an animation where it is landing, and the landing gear is getting deployed (made of several objects that move and rotates), and every object is parented to one object (the spaceship) i dont want to animate in unity, i want to do it in blender and then export the animation i dont need any script, just that the animation is played in the beginning
@KumuTheProtogen7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I've been looking for many tutorials, too many are in Js, which I don't want to use. And many others do the actual animation in a script instead of making it an animation.

Great it helps, thx for the comment.

when we do it like this, we have to create a animation for each door since the base rotation is different..

How do you make the pivot point on the door to be at the side where a hinge would be?? I've been searching for hours and all of the tutorials keep saying to create an empty object and put it to where the door is and the parent the door to it but that does NOT work for me. The pivot point is still in the center and always is. ;______;
@manaspades7 жыл бұрын
thats most likely because your "pivot" is set to center in unity. near the top left of of your screen below the Component tab, you should see something that says center, if you click it it will change to pivot and your pivot should change to wear you set it and not the center.
@VillagerLifeCraft6 жыл бұрын
Thats why you need to set the origin on blender into the door side so when you imported it on unity the pivot is side of the door

I followed your tutorial and created my own door. But as I imported the model to unity the handles are distored during the rotation. The problem occur if the scale of the parent object is not uniform (x,y,z = 1). In your model the doorframe and the door itself have a uniform scale. Any suggestion to achieve this for my model?
@elouisesheri7 жыл бұрын
would it be possible that when the door is opened there is another scene already like inside of that door (but if you walked around the door frame and the door it would be the scene your already in) and then when you walk through the door dissapears?
@JayAnAm7 жыл бұрын
There are a number of techniques to achieve this, you can load Levels with Unity dynamically, have a look at this method: docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Application.LoadLevelAsync.html

That's a portal (the scene inside the door showing a different view). Search for "unity portal tutorial" on KZbin.

animation works in scene view, how to animate in game view?
@1uan1mao7 жыл бұрын
why my animation doesn't work like the another unity animations. When I make another key it doesn't save the changes, and it's weird. PLS HELP!
@JayAnAm7 жыл бұрын
Hard to say, I need more info.
@1uan1mao7 жыл бұрын
Ok. when I move the stick thing or play the record button not the red the arrow one it doesn't save the changes that I make. And the stick thing in the timeline is white instead of red. And when I move a the transform position, rotation, scale in the inspector, it doesn't create a keyframe automatic, which I have to add a keyframe myself, just told you on the first info, it doesn't keep or save changes

It's not doing it on my other computer. Maybe it's just a bug between windows 7 and windows 8 maybe...

For some reason when I export an object from blender to Unity whatever pivot point I create in blender doesn't apply in Unity. For some reason in Unity every object I select ; their pivot point is in the center. Could you please tell me what I might be doing wrong? Thanks. PS: Great tutorial vids btw , I really appreciate them :)
@JayAnAm7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mehmet, if you set the pivot point in Blender correctly it should fit in Unity after importing it. Please describe how you set it in Blender.
@mehmetkeremetes81237 жыл бұрын
In Blender, I selected the right top corner vertice of the door and door holder, then snapped my 3d cursor there after that in object mode I transformed the object origin to my 3d cursor. When I use rotate in Z access the door works perfect in blender but when I export it as fbx in unity it wont recognize my doors pivot point. I also tried to export the door just as a single object to see if it worked like that (with the doorholder) still it didnt work. Could it be a bug you think? I'm using blender 2.78c.
@JayAnAm7 жыл бұрын
No I don't thin it's a bug, sometimes it's the little things that one doesn't notice. When setting the pivot point for Unity, you need to set on one object, the root one. Select just this root object and set the pivot point like you did to 3d cursor. Then export with all objects selected and don't forget to export just the selected objects (little checkbox in fbx export).
@mehmetkeremetes81237 жыл бұрын
Like you said its the little things I didn't notice. Just to make it clear on what I was doing wrong. When I was selecting the rotation tool in Unity, the option to use it was on "centered" I changed it to "pivot" and when I rotated my objects it used its original pivot point which was exported from Blender. Thanks for your help Jay, I was looking at other directions :)
