But i doubt that it is not in the same level, e.g look like some of the output res and texture are in 4K some is not. I have an idea , if it is possible to have specialist on both side to make an optimized version until they think it cannot be improve any more, then compare and get the review from both specialist for which section they think the engine cannot satisfy them but other side did better result. This was my first time comparing the 2 platforms and I was actually able to tell the difference between the two. They both look absolutely amazing, but in my opinion Unreal does a better job when it comes to motion, particularly in the case of light, shadows, and reflections movement. Unity looks extremely picturesque, almost to the point that it makes be feel like nothing is supposed to be interactive. I also felt the rain scene could have been rendered better on Unreal when the water it the ground. I was watching the tiny splashes and noticed that as soon as they hit the ground the event was over. The individual droplets didn't accumulate into a puddle like they would in real life. Maybe I'm looking for a bit too much in terms of realism, but that small detail is why I was able to tell the difference.

All were correct except for number 6. As many say, Unity has come a long way, but it's fundamentally different from Unreal. It is not a situation where the engine is being used to its maximum right now. Unity is obviously more productive, but I can't agree that the two engines have similar performance levels. Among the projects made with Unity, it seems that the only high quality projects are the ones they made. You will have to pay a lot of money to access the engine source. If I'm wrong, try make the Unreal 5 demo project in Unity. When I look at the games that are actually being developed, no games with aaa graphics made with Unity have been developed, and when they are asked this question, they blur the point like 'graphics aren't everything'. It is true that Unreal has been suitable for large companies, but recently, it is helping small companies or solo dev in various ways by releasing high-quality assets and Quixel Megascans for free to individuals. Their efforts should not be ignored. For most projects that don't require extreme performance, looking at a static mesh can be difficult to tell apart, but when you look at the VFX you'll notice in seconds. They claim that they can achieve the same level of performance with a more complex process and effort but it's hard to admit that this is practically impossible, given that no such game has ever been developed. I also like Unity. There are so many fun games made with Unity. There's no reason to fall in love with the engine. I just want to say that it serves a different purpose.

Well almost. I got 6 and 7 wrong but I was able to identify correctly 1 to 5. Both of them look amazing, but unity's lighting still looks a little more unrealistic compared to UE. For some reason unreal engine's lights look more dense and heavy, like they are actually casting the shadows.

Unreal has always been superior in global illumination and post processing, I'm not sure it will ever be beaten but some of the things in Unity do look good!

@@SpeedTutor if they keep prioritizing game making and growing as an engine they will probably be even closer to UE by then. But if they start thinking with their wallets like so many others, well, they'll probably ruin it.

I think it's difficult to say because they have expanded massively and I don't think they have clear goals in mind anymore, the slipping of the engine between 3 different pipelines really doesn't help. Haha. We shall see! :)

@SpeedTutor2 жыл бұрын
Zero bias as I found these from creator of assets from both stores and I found a couple of extra exemplar examples from KZbin for Unreal. I of course could have given you technical demos but this isn't what the video was about. It's from developers making real-time visualisations that are perfectly achievable by an average developer.
@lushen9523 жыл бұрын
Wow (2) was really bad and I thought it was unity. (1) looked like real life. You'll never have a valid comparison between unity and unreal because the shaders and lighting will be different no matter how much you try to match. It's really sad 99% of developers that want photorealism go to ue4. There's some seriously bad propaganda against unity - all unity games have anime/cartoons graphics.
@SpeedTutor3 жыл бұрын
You're exactly right, I think it takes skill and expertise whichever side of the fence you end up sitting on. They say that Unreal does a better job out of the box and Unity has a much higher curve when it comes to achieving the quality. I think it just takes awesome people to make insanely good in either engine! :)
@oozly92912 жыл бұрын
The one thing that has bugged me from these showcases are that they are always interior shots or mostly, it’s much easier creating a realistic scene doing interiors. As shown with Unity demonstrating that it’s capable of beating Unreal engine with interiors at least. Unity starts to fall apart with environmental scenes as it’s lighting is not up to par with UE and there is a noticeable gap between the two. I wish there could be more videos and demonstrations comparing the two with environmental scenes, the only Unity environments that have genuinely impressed me and in my opinion looked better than most UE projects was Sakura Rabbits work, she’s possibly the most impressive Unity artist out there as far that I am aware.
@SpeedTutor2 жыл бұрын
I think you're right but it's hard to make a side by side comparison in terms of environmental showcases because they don't always adhere to highest fidelity. Whereas the look at Visualisation is you know they're going for as close to realistic as the engines allow.

i am both unreal and unity user, the newbies watching the video must know that it takes double the amount of time in unity to match the same graphics ,which unreal do way faster. in unity you have to pass with hell lot of bugs ,trial error and time. whatever the best looking showcase like book of the dead or unity heretic are done by professional and pro experts. not some beginner or even intermediate, even the best looking unity game "escape of tarkov" its graphics can be easily matched by sample projects made by beginners in unreal engine. unreal is the future and many unity developer are switching to unreal , because how its less buggy and some work which unity will take one hour can easily be done in 15 minutes in unreal, i use unity only for mobile games. no other reason.

It's entirely your choice whether to watch it or not, I do mention at the start and in the description of what the video is about. It's just a look at some creations by the community and for everyone to play a little game of deciding which is Unity or which is Unreal! :)
