I'm glad it worked! My biggest fear with game jams was the possibility that my game would be unplayable. During my very first game jam, I built and submitted it just before the deadline, but it was a broken build so nobody could play it :( . I found these settings fixed it 95% of the time. Good luck in LD 50!

Stripping isn't *compression*, though it does save a bit of space. It "simply" removes unused code. Unfortunately it's possible that it determines that a chunk of code is unused and throws it away, even when it's needed to run the game.

This can usually be an issue with the canvas object in unity. Try changing the scaling to match the screen width. Also, maximize the game view in unity so you can see the changes in real time without needing to build.

No I don't think it's possible to embed it in Google slides, but you might be able to do something where you upload the source files to drive then embed the html portion.

I love how unity managed to create the _EXTRACT ONLY_ format known as .unityweb There is absolutely no 3rd party utility known to man that can modify or add content to .unityweb files, only extract from them

The settings I changed should increase performance, but some games are too complex to even run in a browser. If I were you, I would also try limiting the amount of game objects and scripts running so it is lighter on the CPU. If it still wont run in the browser, just export for windows and mac.

Webgl in unity is the worst thing ever. >:( Gamemaker is much faster and never gets stuck on some il2cpp or compile web module. But obviously gamemaker can't make 3d and basically everything but 2d

Please make sure the errors are due to the compiler, rather than your own code or assets. The problems this video fixed are mainly graphics and loading related, which usually only throw discrete errors or just cause the game to freeze/crash. I advise you to actually read what the error message says; it's purpose is to tell you exactly what is wrong so you can fix it.

@@AstroSamDev the game in webgl won't load that's for sure, but in addition when I try your method it gives me a big error pop up in the navigator. I'll investigate more but our code and assets don't have errors in the editor or in a standard build

This is terrible advice. Yes it may fix a problem, but by bruteforcing. There are better ways to fix optimization issues, e.g. just by looking at the console. Usually it tells you directly what is wrong. I never ever had a game be "too far" compresed this is just wrong. There might be other issues, server settings are one of them. So maybe compression is an issue for specific webhosts but the reasoning I think is wrong. Both Gzip and brotli are lossless compressions so quality is not increased either by choosing those. Compression of assets is still defined per asset. For mesh compression though, you are right.
