This unit is amazing! I've had it for a month now and it serves so many purposes! I use it for recording direct, playing quietly at home and using it live FOH. The fact that I can attenuate the amp on the stage and still run FOH is fantastic! Hope they add a few V30 models at some point in the future.

Jacob K Guitar yes there’s latency on the ox. you have to record both signals and align the tracks afterwards.
@pirateradio8085 жыл бұрын
@@loudnoisestudios how do you align the tracks in your DAW? Do you look up how many samples of latency there is and enter a number to nudge one track, or do it visually by looking at the two tracks, or what? (I'm not good at this stuff)
@loudnoisestudios5 жыл бұрын
Pirateradio EightOhEight you can both nudge by number or do it visually, whatever suits you best. (maybe save a copy of the original in case something goes wrong.) there’s also a plugin that works great for these types of situations, auto align by soundradix.
@pirateradio8085 жыл бұрын
@@loudnoisestudios thanks for those tips! (I save originals of everything, i.e. when quantizing...I use Cubase and there is a great feature called Track Versions where you can save the track as is, before editing anything like that, and return to it any time, without saving a whole copy of the project for every change you make.)

Did you mute the input signal from the console before running it into your DAW? I thought the same thing, and figured I was just doing something incorrectly. Eventually figured out the console has to be muted if you're going to audition the input audio in your DAW.

@@pirateradio808 That's not really my point, I've had attenuators over the years and I get it man. My point is, say you've got a great vintage Marshall or Fender tube amp that you want to crank..why would you want to edit that sound on an iPad? Why edit it in any way at all if you can avoid it? If that's what you want, why not just buy a Kemper and call it a day? Hey, just my .02.
@pirateradio8085 жыл бұрын
@@LateNightYinzer I have a great collection of amps (too many frankly) and I generally record them as is -- but the ones that get used 99% of the time either have a master volume or are extremely low wattage (i.e. my vintage 1953 Gibson GA-20). I own 2 attenuators and don't use them, because they suck the tone out. But I have one amp (a Tone King) that has a built-in attenuator and have literally never turned it off. Maybe if I did I'd realize the amp goes from great to unbelievably great, but it's just far too loud for home studio use even with the attenuation set at a moderate setting (and unlike putting attenuators inline of my other amps, it sounds great even attenuated). I haven't used a Kemper but I would rather get the actual tone of my overdriven tube head than a digital emulation of that, if it came down to it. I do know people who can't make much noise at home, at all, for various reasons, so for them the OX would be a great choice. Maybe it doesn't sound any better technically than a Kemper, but even a placebo effect for someone who has spent thousands of dollars on a vintage Fender brownface amp, to be able to hear it pushing really hard (albeit through digital speaker emulation or an attenuator) is worth something in terms of inspiration.

I guess what I'm confused about is the sound that we hear on this video would be the direct out signal for recording. Not what the artist is hearing in the room? Or are all those speaker emulations being heard in the room as well. Through the cab speaker chosen. I understand the emulations would also be heard through headphones. Via the headphone jack But If I was playing through a marshal 2x 12 cab and then used the au ox to emulate a fender black face cab. I'd still be hearing the sound through marshal speakers in the room. So are those cab emulations for recording only? Trying to understand this one if anyone can help.

Maybe if I was to buy a FRFR cab it would be best then use the ua ox to colour my sound to whichever cab I felt a groove on at the time.
