I'm fairly certain it's just rebadged because people were more familiar with Apollo than with UA, like Gannon was saying. I can't see anything in the specs that's different than the Arrow. I don't know much about the A/D D/A converters in this versus the Apollo X series, though. I think the only thing new is that there is a USB model now, not just Thunderbolt.

In a lot of these interfaces and built-in control and plug-ins they are designed for electric guitars and thus all the pre-amps, Amps, plug-ins and pre-sets etc. are designed to optimize the sounds of eclectic guitars or electric instruments. How about acoustic players such as myself that are looking to record their classical guitars and play and compose on classical or acoustic guitars?

Thanks for the vid. How are you supposed to correctly shut down and start up the solo? It seems to get warm so I want to shut it off I turn off my monitors first and turn the volume down on the Apollo before turning off my Mac. When I turn my iMac on tho it feels like a the Apollo is starting up kinda harsh, not sure if that's the norm.thanks for any feedback

I'm looking to replace my nearly obsolete Apollo Twin Solo (purchased in 2014), as it won't be compatible with the next software update. I'm either going to buy the Solo or a new Twin X. I would like to look at a simple comparison chart between the two units, but can't seem to find one. I don't see a good reason to spend the extra money on a Twin.

I currently run my effects live in Logic Pro x. Will I still be able to do this using Apollo's own onboard effects? I don't want to have to commit to, say, reverb, eq or compression settings (maybe compression) as I record my vocals, for example. It looks like a fantastic device and will free up a lot of CPU on my Mac mini.

I would really appreciate it if you read the whole thing as it gives more details!] I would love to win this Apollo Solo because it would really take my tracks to a whole new level. I am a 16 year old house producer and I finally think I am at the point where I am becoming good enough to start releasing stuff on labels which has been my dream for years and years.(I am not trying to hype myself up in any way and I still have a long way to go, I am just saying this because the electronic/dance duo BONNIE X CLYDE called me a "certified legend" and said some really kind and encouraging things after I demoed a track I was working on to them on instagram live. After the live ended I proceeded to run around the house screaming it was so awesome haha) I have always heard of how good UA's DSP plugins are and how amazing the AD/DA converters sound. My interface currently is an ancient PreSonus Audiobox USB 96 that I found at my dad's house. I think a professional DA converter in a portable form factor like this would really help me get better mixes with no latency and be able to experiment more with stereo placement and imaging due to a cleaner and more professional sound. The SSL is half the price, but doesn't do the plugins in hardware on recording. If you're OK with CPU hosted plugins, the SSL will do fine!

Universal Audio did not learn from the Arrow that, A: There are people with Thunderbolt 2 Macs not yet wanting to change their computer but want a bus powered interface for their current Mac as well as their next one, and B: iPads have become serious music production tools with companies like Steinberg making their devices fully compatible with iPad OS. Why would you release a new product line in 2020 and once again ignore those potential customers ?

Allow. UAD plugins. To run. Native. Please..... you can use a Sharc UAD device as a dongle but allow us to toggle between native and DSP like PT does. For the love of god. I no longer use UAD in my workflow bc of latency and Shark chips being slow for offline bouncing. And I HAVE EVERY PLUGIN. But can't justify using them anymore.
