Unpopular opinion- UBI isn’t the answer because it’s attacking the problem backwards. What use is an extra 2000 when companies then raise the prices of EVERYTHING because everyone has money? The issue is the wealth accumulation at the top by raising prices month over month much more than wages increase. Inflation being normalized is the actual issue and why no one can afford what we need to afford.

Listening to these people talk about UBI is cringe. They don't know what that would do to the economy. The US does not have money. We have been operating on a deficit, so what people want is to print more money to give out, aka more stimulus. This will cause hyperinflation. So no matter how much the government prints to give out, prices it will always go higher for goods and services. That's basic economics.

At least right now, if they implemented a UBI at $500 or $1000 a month, it would still feel like adding a dribble of spit into a lake. Wouldn't move the needle for me until other things become more reasonable, like rent. I wouldn't turn $500-1000/mo down, I could do something with it and I know it can be a live-saver for many. But it honestly feels like a band-aid on a broken bone.

Instead of giving universal basic income, which will be taxed, the government should reduce taxes so that people take home more raw money over a period of time. Also, I am calling bs on the guy who claimed that studies showed that people with UBI reduced their vices and became more responsible. This is because we live during a time where the housing market, job market, and inflation are simultaneously undergoing crises.... yet the entertainment industry (video games, subscriptions to stuff like netflix, movies, concerts, etc.) are doing extremely well. In other words, if people are spending money on frivolous things during an economic crisis, then they will surely spend as much if not more with UBI. But then again, the whole point of UBI is to train people to continue to spend money to keep the economy going, since people are more likely to spend on things using bulk money like tax refunds, whereas people are more likely to be frugal if they take more money home each paycheck. It should also be highlighted that housing/rent prices will just increase to accommodate for UBI.

It depends on many factors including qualifications, job opportunities in your area etc. Just because you don't know anyone personally who's earning an average salary, doesn't mean it's not true. In response to the 2nd video where she is asking where people are earning $45,000 per year. I have an answer. I make $45,000 a year. I work in a Home Depot Distribution Warehouse. My Pay if I only worked 40 hours every week would be just under 45K, but with some OT that I have already worked this year, and doing the math, I will end up breaking the 45K mark by the end of this year with my last pay check. I might be closer to 46K. This is in Maryland, and I am on my 3rd year working there. Non Management. Supervisors (1st level manager) there earn 60K+ with bonuses included. 45K is what 30K was just 8 or 9 years ago to be honest though. Housing costs are way up. Insurance way up. I only "make it" and feel okay right now because I also have a DJ business I work in addition to my full time job so I earn more than just the 45K to 46K a year.
