Saw that one for the very first time in my hometown, host to one of Western Europe's biggest theaters that is also classed as a national heritage site in Paris : The Grand Rex. Don't miss that place if you ever come by the city. It still rings to me as if it was yesterday. Literally unforgettable moments. So true in fact that today, I recall the emotions I felt with the intro, and not even the movie that followed !

Jerry Goldsmith was the one who initially composed the melody but was revamped by a man I believe by the name of Bryan Tyler for the centennial version, he added an array of drums and other instruments as well as choir.

There's nothing terribly wrong with the logo, you see. It just sometimes shows up inappropriately for certain movies on video and it's usually loud and obnoxious in those movies. It's appropriate for a big-budget theatrical release, but on something like The Tale of the Princess Kaguya it's deplorable.

It made its theatrical debut with Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (also the first Illumination film to use it, and although trailers and TV spots for it had the previous logo) and made its last appearance on Mama. It was also seen on the Australian film Mental. The version without the "100TH ANNIVERSARY" wording debuted theatrically on Identity Thief, although it previously appeared at the end of Universal's Cinematic Spectacular: 100 Years of Movie Memories at Universal Studios Florida, on trailers for movies released in 2013, and on the Blu-ray release of Vertigo. This has plastered the 1997 logo on an airing of The Perfect Man on TBS and Big Fat Liar on Disney Channel and Freeform with the previous logo's fanfare. It has also been used as a de-facto home entertainment logo since 2012. This logo also appears on international prints of MGM films (the ones distributed by United Artists Releasing) since 2019. This logo also appears on reprints of DreamWorks Animation films, starting in 2018, and on newer films from said studio in 2019, beginning with How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.
