I would be too scared to travel alone to somewhere with a language barrier. You're very brave and I have loved watching you in Japan!. I hope it feels worth it even though you've been homesick. Thankyou very much for taking us with you 😊 All these trials and tribulations will make the most awsome stories in the future ❤

It’s been 15 years since I lived in Japan, so seeing your trip through Japan has been this crazy experience of nostalgia over seeing so many familiar things (Lawsons 🤩🤩🤩) but amazement over seeing so much Western stuff (Bubba Gump?! Red Lobster?!) I LOVED Saizeria so much when I lived there. As for the pressure for omiyage gifts, I think as long as it’s clearly from your trip and something that can be shared among the office, there’s no preference. One of the most famous ones you can bring home yourself is called Tokyo Banana, so I recommend grabbing some of those when you're heading home. When I returned to Canada, I brought those and some regional Kit Kats. I really hope that, before you leave Osaka, you get a chance to try takoyaki and okonomiyaki. Takoyaki is an Osaka staple and they have great okonomiyaki (though I like Hiroshima style more). Also, your comment about the lack of baked goods and sweets is right on the nose - Japanese cuisine has a VERY different types of sweets. I was never really a fan of it because a lot of it was red bean and mochi and a lot of textures I didn't enjoy much.

Lawsons was an early convenience store that started in 1939 in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio very close to where I grew up. Loved riding my bike as a kid (about a half mile) to get a soda and a treat. They were very popular their chipped chopped ham and their chip dip are still fondly remembered by those who had a Lawson’s. None left in the US, closed in the 80’s. There are thousands of them in Japan.

It's wild to see City Walk in Osaka is so much bigger, cleaner, and nicer than ours in Orlando. Also, nothing looks very crowded. And huge props to you for figuring out all the transportation challenges in spite of the language barrier!

Those strawberries LOOKED good. BEARD SHOT 😂 Thank you, Amanda, for convincing Chris to travel to Japan! Chris, I hope you're enjoying your time! Chris, I love how even if you don't know you just jump in and explore and try something! I love how Japan has displays of what the food looks like! I wish US did that.

The pink headband is apparently of a character created specifically for Universal Studios Japan named Moppy. (I researched a bit about Universal Studios Japan after watching your bullet train video. The Wikipedia article on Universal Studios Japan lists the characters that you can see and Moppy is one of them.) The character has their own gift shop called Moppy's Lucky Spot! that sells Moppy merchandise. It also has what's called the Lucky Mirror, which you look into after rubbing a crystal ball and the mirror gives you a percentage score of how happy you look (Apparently, the mirror uses facial recognition technology to determine your score.) Whoever has the highest score of the day by 2 p.m. gets to wear Moppy's Lucky Hat, which is a pink top hat with the words "Lucky Winner" in big pink letters. You get to skip all the lines for the rest of the day as your prize.

Taking a trip with you to a foreign country is so much FUN!! You're like a big kid in a candy store! Love all your little comments about being positive. I taught my children growing up not to be afraid of hurtful things others say. They say negative things because they are hurting or sad. We have a saying, "Hurt people Hurt people." My grandson came home one day complaining about another boy picking on him. I asked what did he do. He said he did nothing and offered him his candy saying the boy was probably sad inside and didn't know how he could say it so he picked on others. The world would be such a better place if we all had your outlook. We are so great full for Amanda talking you into doing this!! Thank you AMANDA!! We Love You Both!!

I really enjoyed Japan's Universal City Walk. It's huge compared to Hollywood's! As far as the headbands, it would be Oscar for me. He's so adorable even though he's a grouch! Oh my gosh, so many food choices. You got me at the Japanese BBQ and the Steak restaurants. Those really stood out for me and I imagined the wonderous aroma of food creaping out the doors! It would be great for the three of you to experience Japan together and enjoy the time, joy, and reactions to everything - as a family. I can only imagine the loneliness and the wishes of having your family there with you. Thank so much for another fantastic experience, I appreciate you so much.
