After my time in RVN was through and I came home. I saw and bought that exact carbine at Kmart in 71. I had carried a M1' in country " a few times and had felt naked since being home without a rifle :D Mine has served me well all of these years !

Well, that’s awesome. Thank you for sharing your feedback. M1 Carbine is one of my favorites.

M1 Carbine was primarily developed to replace the 1911 .45 caliber pistol, which was hard to master, and serve along side the M1 Garande - not at all tp replace it. The M1 Carbine was much easier to train rear echelon or support role troops. Front line troops were later issued the carbine.

Thank you for sharing some important facts I had had to edit out of the video for time.

Had a Universal. It was anything but. Not mil spec. Own internal parts. So no transplants from other brands. But it did work in fully jam o matic. 😅

I ran into that problem too, until I realized the ammo I was shooting would not work with the recoil springs that were installed.

@@GunsmithBeard that could be an issue. I've used pro mag and surplus with my auto Ordnance and zero problems. Regardless of brass or steel, I still could not get my Universal to cycle properly. Even took to the range alongside my Ruger mini 30/14. After 3 cleaning and oiling each time, only the Universal still stovepiped on me

You fail to mention 1st gen Universals are not mil issues but ARE MIL SPEC. Also the statement you make @ 11 min mark that an M1 carbine magazine works in an M4 I hope is an uncorrected error and not what you actually believe or are telling people to believe.
@GunsmithBeardКүн бұрын
I think you’re confusing the M4 with a AR 15 style weapon system. They were several different variances of the M1 carbine, their later versions would take the early version of magazines. I was not implying that an M1 carbine magazine would work in an A.R. 15 if that’s what you’re assuming.

Thanks for the history on these rifles. Did International Harvester build any of these M2 carbins or just the M1 in 3006? Have a great week. See ya next time. 🇺🇲🔪🌲🔥

No, they didn’t according to the research and records I read. Harvester International had the M1 Garand. Winchester Repeating Arms Company made the M2 variant. From what I’ve read, I think a lot of the bigger companies made the M2’s once they were needed. Inland made a bunch too.

Can the Universal be modified to accept a red dot?
@smokymountainoutdoorsman1991Ай бұрын
Yes. UTG makes a pic rail mount that is attached by removing the rear sight. It can take a red dot or small scope.
@GunsmithBeard29 күн бұрын
Yes, it can, but you lose your rear sight assembly.
