Tracking guests and using sensors to see if they’re inebriated or sick seems like an invasion of privacy. If this technology was confined to a theme park, that’s one thing. But what happens when similar technology is used in all public spaces? I really hate this.
@finned9582 ай бұрын
It’s not a public space. Theme parks are private spaces. Public spaces have less privacy. You can record any one on the public streets, parks, buildings unless it’s a prohibited sensitive area.
@noahztv12 ай бұрын
@@finned958 I know lmao, I’m just saying technology similar to this could eventually be used in public spaces

You’re walking on their property and they already have cameras everywhere watching your every move anyway
@noahztv12 ай бұрын
@@NicEeEe843 I’m talking about future uses of this technology. Plus, having security cameras everywhere is drastically different than using AI to create guest profiles and track people’s conversations, body temperatures, locations, etc.

You're on private property and there's no promise of privacy. You do realize you're already recorded everywhere you go inside the park (both WDW and Universal) right?

Maybe they should enforce the existing rules. I see blatant line cutting every time I go, and the employees do nothing.
@capthemagic2 ай бұрын
This also could be a way to enforce the existing rules more effectively as they would have evidence of something happening and unable to just ignore it perhaps

Former Disney Cast Member here. 9 years of ride operations. Today’s society has gotten worse because of accountability or the lack thereof. But we had in my day, people fighting, people damaging show scenes and the popular cutting in lines. The thing that didn’t exist was social media. I think that the ride sensor tech is a great idea. I also would welcome more security cameras to monitor people. But a human has to make judgement call. And once an offense has been committed, the guilty party has to pay for it. Once people realize that a theme/amusement park don’t play that, they will straighten up. The guests are forking out too much money to get kicked out

I’ve never been a Universal fan, I don’t like most of the IP in their parks, but this kills any chance I’ll visit a Universal theme park again. I’m not down with unregulated AI/facial tech being used on me. Same thing applies to Disney if it comes out they’re going in that direction too. If/when we have laws in place to insure our privacy then I’ll reevaluate.
@ryanweaver79712 ай бұрын
Also, should be noted that this is a patent filing for the technology, how they utilize it is different or if at all. This is just to protect their intellectual property. A lot of IPs never get used
@capthemagic2 ай бұрын
Very true. They may never use it in the parks but could implement it sometime in the future

What I really hate is a group of people doing the conga line cutting. Impossible to stop these folks.

@sky0kast02 ай бұрын
I'm okay with it but I don't know if I want this to go worldwide because when it does I wonder if insurance would like a copy or if the data gets hacked... I'm fairly certain we don't want that. Of course I'm confident and not likely to break rules at parks anyway just my opinion.

i like it for the rides, like using objects to reach out and getting out of the vehicle ect. but everything else is a TOTAL invasion of privacy. Might give the government a green light to use this in our neighborhoods and control us more. It’s pretty scary

On some level I’m sure control is part of it. I do think given Universal has a larger teen/young adult crowd they do want to curb some of the behavior that can come from that group as well… but I’ve seen drunk and rowdy 50 years olds in the parks as well lol

If the patient was filed in 2022, M.L. was a term utilized just as frequently as A.i. Now the only cultural relevant term over the past year is A.I. I don’t think it was to hide the term A.I.
@capthemagic2 ай бұрын
Possibly. I just know over the years developers I know have said machine learning and AI are basically the same thing but there are probably some differences between the two on how they work in a system
@ryanweaver79712 ай бұрын
@@capthemagic they are. A.I. uses M.L. as the method to mine data and analyzes it. A.I. then uses the data to reason like a human. So universal is saying they are data mining and analyzing data but they aren’t creating an LLM to mimimic a human.

If it makes the guest experience better I'm all for it. People need to start embracing technology. It's not going away so we might as well get used to it and understand how it works, what it's doing and why it's there and stop with the toil foil hat theories. I think it's best to just wait and see how and if it's used instead of making "assumptions" based on a description and getting all worried about something that may be even remotely true. It could have a great uses and it would be a shame for it to not be used because everyone to made such a big deal over something designed to help their experience.
