Academy Award® winners Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs) and Benicio Del Toro (Traffic) tear up the screen in this action-packed thriller. Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro) is lured back to his family estate to investigate the savage murder of his brother by a bloodthirsty beast. There, Talbot must confront his childhood demons, his estranged father (Hopkins), his brother's grieving fiancée (Emily Blunt, The Devil Wears Prada) and a suspicious Scotland Yard Inspector (Hugo Weaving, The Matrix Trilogy). When Talbot is bitten by the creature, he becomes eternally cursed and soon discovers a fate far worse than death. Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins.

This is my responsibility. I thought everyone should know. We are imprisoned in a place whose slogan was freedom . New slavery , Don't Travel to the USA . Never even for a short time. if you have any special knowledge or skills or an invention , They will steal it from your mind . The US government initially used this method to identify people who intended to harm the United States . but today they use it for many purposes , including stealing information from people , stealing data from peoples minds . And many celebrities like Taylor Swift are helping to lure the US government . they'll see whatever you see you'll never have privacy even with your wife or girlfriend . they'll see whatever you think . when Taylor Swift said I use my best colors for your portrait means it's one of the newest things they're using it . Your silence will help them to do it again and again . They said don't say anything because of The USA . I want to take her to court . They want to pay me from $ 10,000 to $ 1,000,000 , but that was not the amount I asked for . Those are not only a songs . She ( Taylor Swift ) likes A writer of crime stories whose stories are completely real and who have committed all the murders . Taylor Adolf Hitler , Humans are not your laboratory mice . Taylor Swift is a secret Nazi .. She ( Taylor Swift ) likes A writer of crime stories whose stories are completely real and who have committed all the murders . I was used as a laboratory mouse to test new products. #BidenisKiller #TaylorSwiftkiller

It's to further illustrate the fact that the man probably saw signs of this stuff being real and was actually delusional and fighting in favor of the status quo being that werewolves were of course not real. But it shows how he was brainwashed enough to ignore him literally transforming and making inhuman sounds, suggesting that he deep down knew that they were real and was on a mission to prove his fears incorrect.

It's very sad to see this movie not getting the recognition it deserves. Benicio was so good in this one, he portrayed the trauma, the physical and emotional stress/pain he had to go through. And the line "his father is literally a monster", is much deeper than it sounds like. Sadly people just saw the vfx and makeup, not the portrayal.
@adamexenvironmental4468
@adamexenvironmental4468 Жыл бұрын
I agree 100% Benecio was better as Talbot than Chaney Jr. My opinion, of course but the 1940s made HORRIBLE monster movies that fans just watch and digest over and over again. The reason they sucked? Implausible story lines (Dracula/Wolfman/Frankenstein Monster all in one mish -mash of silly nonsense) and the censorship of violence and gore. The acting in these old movies was ridiculous as well. Just listen to the dialogue…people don’t talk like that! AND why do they always have to change the time from Victorian England (or whenever) to modern times? Universal, after ‘Son of Frankenstein’ and before HAMMER PRODUCTIONS was stupid.

I had the privilege of being in it, hence my nickname here. I'm one of the 'doctors' right on the back row on the left. I ran around that studio for either 5 or 6 days and yet I was left on the cutting room floor for most of it. It was great fun making it and thank you for the paycheck Universal. Joe Johnson looked after us really well with fresh coffee available at all the breaks plus cakes and sandwiches and a brilliant barbecue for one of the lunches. SUPERB. I nearly got talking to Benicio at the first. I had no idea who he was and he was dressed in that scruffy suit so I thought he was just another extra actor. I'd seen some of the scene decoration going on and just remarked to him how good it was. He agreed, but then he was called away for a last check on make-up. Next thing he's wheeled into that room and I say to the guy next to me, I was just trying to speak to him. That's when he told me that it was Benicio. We all made friends with Gabor, the stuntman playing the wolfman character. He was a really friendly guy. Loved it and great memories. Sometimes we started at 7:30am and went on til 11:00 at night, but was worth it.

I agree with your assessment. A transformation like this - if real - would be a change on a cellular and fundamental level, and be incredibly painful. His body would be literally reshaping itself. Bones would stretch with muscle, eyes would swell in their sockets, teeth would shift and sprout anew, only to change back with the light of day. Truly horrific, and truly fascinating.

Rick Baker and his team did a fantastic job and designing the Wolfman. I like the idea of him running on all fours as opposed to just running on two legs. It's like he was that much more faster and menacing. Rick promised that this Wolfman could do a lot more damage than the original Lon Chaney version and he delivered. The original Wolfman just tore out your jugular. This one mutilates when he wants to.

American Werewolf in London and The Howling top this by a lot by the sheer use of practical effects. It's more visceral because it IS real and in-camera. @ Soapfanaddict I take it you haven’t seen the movie. I think you completely missed the intent of the characters themselves. Darth Vader and magneto are methodical in their nature to where this creature is completely wild, unpredictable, and will say anything to terrify anybody in their way. It has no quarrel about letting people live or killing them indiscriminately. It simply does not care about MOST human values because of how he was raised as a child. It’s the weight, wildness, and several layers of characterization that make this scene succeed in all areas.

I don’t think you must the same movie I did because he does harm people in discriminately. Yes he does kill the person who injected him as well as the doctor, but he also mortally wounded 7 other people in that same room. Those are 2 or 3 inch long claws ripping through 7 people in the room and at least 7 in the bus. The difference between him and the two you mentioned is that this one doesn’t care whether you live or die if you’re in or near it’s vicinity. Hulk and Morbius prefer not to kill, Vader chooses who to kill, this one doesn’t care about either option.I don’t know how are you didn’t see that. He’s not like Hulk or Morbius at all. There’s no line between morality and immorality for him.

It's such a damn shame that this movie didn't do better at the box office. It really was so well done. This was a great scene, and Anthony Hopkins was so good as the father. Honestly, the entire cast was damn near perfect and acted wonderfully. Not to mention, this was some of Rick Bakers' best work.

It’s a shame this movie isn’t talked about, literally used to watch it on repeat and still watch it now and then and I love it, I was only young when first viewing it and I think it was the very gothic feel to it, with the woods and the moon being used perfectly, the mystery behind the story, the love story in it, everything just pieced together for me

All those idiots jamming up the door just reminds me of the theater scene from American Werewolf in London where the people were more of a danger to themselves than the monster. I do absolutely love how even when transformed he still has enough human intelligence left to remember those who did him wrong. I love how he doesn't just attack and kill the doctor like a wild animal would, he straight throws his ass out the window cause he remembered him talking about flying out of it.

Everything this movie does practically looks great. I really wish we could have seen Rick Baker do that transformation how he wanted to, but it still looks great regardless.

One of the few werewolf movies I can recall in recent years that was well done and not cheesy. Vampires always get every type of media dedicated to them but werewolves were always more fascinating imo

I'm planning to rent it, this evening. I had always remembered how above and beyond the set of the mansion was in this movie, just the atmosphere made it stick in my mind as one of the better productions that I'd seen. There are movies that look real and there are a lot of movies, some with big budgets, that just never can immerse you because everything looks fake. This is not one of those movies.
