Beast - Only In Theaters August 19
Sometimes the rustle in the bushes actually is a monster.
Idris Elba (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, The Suicide Squad) stars in a pulse-pounding new thriller about a father and his two teenage daughters who find themselves hunted by a massive rogue lion intent on proving that the savannah has but one apex predator.
Elba plays Dr. Nate Daniels, a recently widowed husband who returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with their daughters to a game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley, Russian Doll series, Maleficent), an old family friend and wildlife biologist. But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.
Iyana Halley (The Hate U Give, This is Us series) plays Daniels’ 18-year-old daughter, Meredith, and Leah Sava Jeffries (Rel series, Empire series) plays his 13-year-old, Norah.
From visceral, experiential filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur, the director of Everest and Universal Pictures’ 2 Guns and Contraband, Beast is produced by Will Packer, the blockbuster producer of Girls Trip, the Ride Along franchise, and ten movies that have opened No. 1 at the U.S. box office, including Night School, No Good Deed and Think Like a Man, by James Lopez, president of Will Packer Productions, and by Baltasar Kormákur. The film is written by Ryan Engle (Rampage, Non-Stop) from an original story by Jaime Primak Sullivan and is executive produced by Jaime Primak Sullivan and Bernard Bellew.

Such a well done movie. I loved the safari, the landcruiser, the courageous uncle and an actual relatable family with family problems who think critically when the lion hunts them. The girls trying the radio while the dad does first aid.. Everyone's doing something and not waiting for the plot to happen. I really was on edge concerned for everyone's well being when everyone is doing the right thing in their circumstance.

I hate the way they wrote the daughters. They made them disobey their dad over and over just to further the plot. I highly doubt they would act like that given how much danger they knew they were in. Furthermore, the anti-poacher foreshadowing was so on the nose that the Martin reveal was not surprising. Norah said she read about anti-poachers online and said she thought Martin was an anti-poacher in two different scenes. The first mention of anti-poachers was enough. The writing in the hospital scene was also too on the nose. Mere explained why Nate did what he did even though it was already clear to the audience.

If that is the type of movie you like, then I recommend you watch The Ghost and Darkness starring Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas. It's about two male lions that hunt as a pair in a local labor camp in Kenya. Now obviously, male lions always hunt alone. They never hunt together and these two are working as a pair as if life to them a co-op game. The best thing about this movie, is that it is based on a true story that took place in 1898.

Watched the movie and honestly it leaves a lot to be desired id give it a 5/10. Its not as realistic as it could have been. Such movies require sufficient research on the wildlife in question and the inhabitants of the area in focus... coz nommatter hoe dangerous an animal could be, the inhabitants of the area will always have ways to tame or fend it off.. always.

@@F4stHeroes In fact the comment does imply that the OP experienced it. OP names *having experienced the wild* as a condition for *realizing the danger of the wild*. Next the OP claims knowledge about the the danger of the wild by giving the following comment about the danger of the wild: "Nature is not a large petting zoo" . Therefore using the OP' s own condition of needing to have experience with the wild in order to realize the danger of the wild it is not strange at all for someone to think the OP, after having claiming knowledge about the wild, is implying experience with the wild. The OP does mention the word "most" and that is a way out for absolute certainty that the OP in fact has experienced the wild, but the statement that *nothing* in the comment implies that the OP has experienced it, is imo false.

@@tchoco I mean in my opinion everything he said is common sense. I don’t have to be nearly been eaten by a lion to know nature isn’t a large petting zoo. He can have knowledge about the dangers of nature just by watching some KZbin videos, he doesn’t need to go on a safari and almost have been trampled by a giraffe lol. To me the first sentence is literally just him saying unless you personally have experienced nature’s danger most people don’t know the extent of it. Which absolutely doesn’t imply he himself has experienced it.

This is probably going to be a sloppy mess but it's so refreshing to see a survival thriller that doesn't involve bears, wolves or sharks. Even if the film is awful, it's setting and premise are very original in this day and age. Edit: obviously big monster hunting people has been done to death. I meant the fact that it's a horror/thriller movie set in South Africa and they're hunted by a pride of lions. You don't get that really at all in horror films. I thought I was pretty clear but I guess people are unable to derive meaning from a string of words. I hope you are all savagely beaten by the worlds most muscular kangaroo.

I mean they saw a whole vîllage butchered by a wild animal but when they encountered another injured man, the father tells his daughters to call for help cause of the injured guy. So the guy didn't communicate to anyone about the whole village dead situation 🤔🤨. Then his friend went to track the animal with his gun ALONE after he saw the aftermath of what this animal is capable of. When his friend screamed, then the father just rushed in the woods without any weapons 😂😂😅 I mean wtf is going on. After he goes back to his car, he then waits for his friend instead of rushing out of the place to look for help. Its like he hadn't realised that this wasn't no normal lion. He then asked his daughter to drive when she obviously has no driving skills and of course she drove it right in a tree. Then after they all including the friend made a plan to rescue the friend which is though the father up the car roof trying to locate the lion to shoot it but as they were doing that, the daughter for no reason at all just went out of the car and starts to run 😅 I mean wtf. And then the lion appears but the father had no bullets in the gun 😂😂😂😂😂. He then had to ask for the second daughter for one. I mean wow. Gotto say though, that author sure got some effin wild imagination doesnt he 😂😂😂
