Film Synopsis:
Witness the origin story of one of legend’s most captivating figures in the action-adventure, Dracula Untold. The year is 1462 and Transylvania has enjoyed a prolonged period of peace under the just and fair rule of the battle-weary Vlad III, the prince of Wallachia (Luke Evans, Fast & Furious 6, The Hobbit series). But when Sultan Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper, Captain America: The First Avenger) demands 1,000 of Wallachia’s boys - including Vlad’s own son - become child soldiers in his army, Vlad must enter into a Faustian bargain to save his family and his people. He gains the strength of 100 men, the speed of a falling star, and the power to crush his enemies. In exchange, he’s inflicted with an insatiable thirst for human blood that could force him into a life of darkness and destroy all that he holds dear.

What annoyed me about the planned Dark Universe is that they insisted of setting it in modern times instead of the turn of the century or early 20th century like it should have. They should have done authentic remakes of all the original movies/books and then had a combined film set around the 30s or 40s with the Mummy. Instead, they clearly had no good vision, plan, commitment, or quality control. A Universal monsters shared horror canon would have been great, but they set it up to fail from the start by bad decisions. They should have stuck with it, paces themselves and followed this movie up. with an adaptation of the book, a book accurate Frankenstein, Dr Jekyll, and then updated remakes of Mummy and Wolfman, all with a single creative visionary like Del Toro. But nope. Universal botched it.

This part where Vlad goes back to the master vampire would have been much more frightening if the scenery were only lit by the torch and occasional moonlight then when the torch goes out Vlad is surrounded in pitch blackness and then when he turns around to find the master vampire right in front of him. Just imagine suddenly turning into a random direction and you come face to face with a pair of glowing red eyes Love where the master vampire yells ANSWER ME @ 3:27 .

Hmm, maybe. But it might have simply come across as dark, and I don't mean in tone. Just dark, hard to see anything, hard to really note the great performances; that kind of dark.

Because from what I’ve heard it was supposed to be a stand alone 3 movie universe the next movie would have been the vlad with Nina him trying to hide what he is from her till the elder camp either posting as van helsing or manipulating them from the shadows reveals him makeing them go on the run and ending with a show down between blad the elder and class “siblings” the elder had been makeing over the 400 years he’d been out

I don't get the hate/dislike toward this movie. The story, acting, CGI and actors were great, and also I really liked the darker theme compared to MCU films. I saw that Turks had down voted on IMDB, which I don't exatcly understand, it's a fantasy after all...

This didn’t really do well enough to get a sequel, but I felt the concept was interesting, Vlad became a vampire to win a war, but ultimately became the Count Dracula we all knew.

Before becoming a vampire, Gaius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, or Caligula, was the Emperor of Rome between 37 and 41 AD. As an Emperor, Gaius earned his legacy as an insane tyrant from his reputation of cruelty, sadism, extravagance, and sexual perversity. Probably between his ascent to the throne and his supposed death at the hands of the Senate, Gaius summoned a demon from Hell to make a Faustian blood-pact in exchange for power and immortality becoming the first known vampire in history. The demon fulfilled it's part of the deal but later betrayed him and cursed Gaius to spend eternity in Broken Tooth Mountain, feeding on travelers to satiate his thirst for human blood. Presumably from the lack of regular victims to feed on, Gaius became monstrous in appearance, with all of his teeth becoming fangs and his fingernails becoming sharp like claws.
