The continuous fine adjustments to drawbar settings as well as leslie speed and expression pedal make this absolutely light up, brother. Fantastic.

@@UniverseofKeys Therein lies the artistry of the B-3. I appreciate you and your passion for and skill developed on this instrument. As a mostly pianist who'd like to ACTUALLY learn the B-3, it's a great lesson to see how a mad scientist dances with the controls of the Hammond, in order to get the best results.

It's a different animal that is for sure!! Appreciate the comment, I LOVE playing the B3 and love to share. Thanks for watching!

I discovered Charlie and Rami before I later found Benmont, and I learned most of what I know about playing in this genre from them!
@UniverseofKeys3 ай бұрын
I feel like they influenced alot of players and have kept the organ alive. I read a story that T-Bone Burnett while producing the August And Everything After record made the decision for Charlie to play a real Hammond and that was the first time he ever did, who knows if its true. Either way Charlies parts on that album are genius!

I just went through the chapter today. So helpful! I’m still pretty new to the B3 but I’ve been jamming with a group once a week and I just noticed last week how nice it sounds to play melodic fills and not just be chording the whole time. This is a perfect demonstration of that!

Thanks for showing the little mechanics of the organ part that make it truly shine. When looking for lessons online for learning the parts of great organ songs, these details are sorely lacking. Thanks much.🎶✌️

What a coincidence! I literally just commented on ur “chopped b3” video…first video of yours that I’ve seen (that I know of)…and I mentioned this band while talking about my love of the Hammond Sound…and then I “liked”, “subscribed”, and then went to ur channel to check out ur other videos…and here we are! Awesome bro…I’m definitely saving this video to see if I can follow to learn this on my 1960 Hammond M3 (blonde finish, I might add, which I haven’t seen a lot)…not quite the same as a full size Hammond…but hey, we do what we can when it comes to Hammond Organs (am I right?)…I’ve even emulated one on Ableton and mapped the 8 faders on my midi controller (usually used as Ableton track faders) to act as drawbars for the “AbleHammond B 3000”! I LOVE the Hammond, but I have been STRUGGLING with registrations and figuring out how to find and duplicate the amazing tones I am hearing in so many songs, including this one. Always wanted to fly a cam over an organ player who knows what he is doing and capture what they are doing on the bars. This is perfect. THANKS. Any way you could do this with Gregg Allman's "Don't Want You No More/Not My Cross To Bear, on the I'm No Angel album? For me, that is Blues/Rock organ at its epitome.

In the very last, quiet verse, I hear a hollow, marimba-type part in sixths filling at the beginning. I always thought that was Rami in the B3, but I noticed that you didn't play in that section. Is that part played on something else?
@UniverseofKeys3 ай бұрын
There is a piano track as well. Maybe that is what you are hearing?
@DavinSeamon3 ай бұрын
@@UniverseofKeys It doesn't sound like a piano to me🤷🏼♂️.
@UniverseofKeys3 ай бұрын
I have the raw organ track and he lays out there, hmmm not sure. The piano sounds like it was recorded from a distant room mic which makes it sound kinda funky, and not James Brown funky ;)
