At the time of this 1998 Boat Race the last time Middlesex had been chosen and led to success was 1992 when Oxford won the toss, selected Middlesex and Liz Chick steered the dark blues to victory around the outside of the big Hammersmith bend. It was therefore not the 1987 Oxford 'Mutiny' win as stated in commentary.
