I'm putting on my crash helmet as I write this :P No offence, but, was it the camera or was Tsang's head considerably bigger than all of his teammates, kinda distracted me every time Kings was the focus during their bonuses, there I was, comparing face sizes instead of listening to the questions.

Paxman is always friendly to any team from cambridge where he did his degree. Always gives them extra time etc. I've been studying this phenomenon for a while now after it was pointed out to me. Also the trick is to get at least two americans on the team as there will always be a lot of questions about that hegemonic country.

A predictable outcome. A satisfying quiz as I felt like I was back in high school with so many easy peasy bonuses, some the contestants missed :P 20 starters + 2 misses. Emmanuel-C: 12 starters with 'Nair on Fire' at 5, McDonald 3, Cujini & Harris 2 each, though Harris incurred a penalty. Cujini was fun to watch and so animated, one could almost mistake her for an American! (no offence to Granet & Issokson, great fun too). Bonus conversion rate 67% coz of 5 full houses. King's-L: 8 starters with Captain Chater on 4, Tsang 2, Jones & Heath 1 each. Bcr 50%. The next play-off may not be so predictable, as both teams qualified with 150 each.

Presumably this is a Brit/American issue. Over here they're "AWK" and "ORK". (Likewise it's often amusing to hear Paxman or one of the contestants pronounce name of a U.S. city or other geographic features. For example, in another episode the question was to name the capital of Vermont [where I live]. The answer was "Montpelier", which Paxman pronounced as "mont-PEL-ee-ay". 'Round here it's "mont-PEEL-yer". Ditto the town back in Indiana; where I used to live] "Versailles"; i.e. "ver-SALES".)

Is Tsang sulking at the lack of Science questions for him as in R1, when he finally gets his second with 'osteoblasts' at 24:15, and King's is down 115 to Emma's 225? He looks soooooo pissed off compared to when he responds quite normally with his first, 'colony', at 5:05. C'mon, it's just a game, not the end of the world!

@Sandra27HK6 жыл бұрын
@@wayneloveday4716 Yes, I was puzzled by that so looked again. After his angry face, the camera cut to the rest of the team, who were smiling. I'm guessing Paxman caught Tsangs expression, as I did, and made a joke of it, though that part was edited out, could be wrong. Could be smiling nervously coz the entire team was looking to him, the science guy, for the 'elements' answer that he couldn't answer. Who cares? :)

What the hell? 3 weeks and no philosophy? What's going on? They had to squeeze out philosophy to get the feminist questions in?
@Sandra27HK6 жыл бұрын
Feminist/female topics are here to stay, it was probably 'the anatomy of fish' or '19C rail routes' or 'national trails' etc. Take your pick! Have you noted any Philosophy students on the show in the last 3 weeks? They usually 'coincide' :) S48E10 featured Goldsmith's Cox, and we got 'Umberto Ecco' as a starter and the 'Sexy Philosophers' fun picture round. After that ...
@neoepicurean37726 жыл бұрын
@@Sandra27HK You can see on my profile, I intended to edit all the philosophy questions from past few seasons, but it was more labour intensive than I'd anticipated and less well received. But there was generally one philosophy starter and one bonus round per episode. The last philosophy bonus round this season was so simple too. There was PPE student and I don't think the questions coincide with the subjects they study, that would be unfair.
@Sandra27HK6 жыл бұрын
@@neoepicurean3772 Yep it's very time-consuming. I did an Art compilation the same season as your Philosophy, though more for myself and then decided to share it. (I also did my other faves, Astronomy, Pop Culture, and all the Pic Rounds, but my laptop was stolen). It's pretty good proof that the most Art questions cropped up when Courtauld was on, I think a whopping 70 points, or when Goldman was on, as he killed the Art rounds and Balliol (a good team), went on to win the series. Some episodes didnt have even 1 Art Q. More Lit appears when good Lit students are on, as in when Guha was on recently for Goldsmiths, who declared they were crap at Science Lol It's a ratings game.
