Did not expect that comeback from Goldsmith's , still, the best team won. Every player was useful on the Glasgow team whereas the Goldsmith's had two warm bodies.

The strangest game I’ve seen, Guha will go far.

Back in the 1997-98 series, when New Hall, Cambridge themselves went down to -15 before getting some questions right, Paxo said things like "Takes you up to a magnificent minus five" and "Brings you to a majestic zero". None of that here - he's obviously going soft in his old age. The audience didn't seem greatly excited by Goldsmiths' comeback, either...

@@icetech6 : I agree, but only because Issokson was supremely irritating. The rest were alright; they just couldn't make up for her.

BAD LUCK?! THIS MATCH WAS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the greatest detrimental performance by a player I have seen on UC. With Issokson's amazing personality--which I think was not half responsible for their oh-so-nearly-a-comeback; she was good at the trivia bit too--and Guha's all-around majesty, Goldsmiths was probably my favourite team, sigh. Would love to see Guha on another quiz somewhere some time.

Goodness, I just discovered that Guha is a fine journalist off whose excellent review in The Hindu I once bought, and tremendously enjoyed, "Ghachar Ghochar" by Vivek Shanbhag.

Issokson really annoyed me from the first match, I can't stand her, such a show-off.

I got about 10 questions this time round. They weren't by any means easy ones, but they all addressed the bits and pieces of esoteric knowledge I have cluttering up my brain. I feel quite proud of myself - that is until next time, when I'll get maybe 1 or 2...

UC ends on a question about another UC. Too bad Goldsmith didn't know it. What a comeback that might have been.
27:48 isn't that the guy from Peterhouse Cambridge??
@federicoandre57173 жыл бұрын
Yes, definitely Oscar Powell (did I spell it correctly?). I've seen this in other episodes: when former contestants come watch the match as part of the audience, the camera focuses on them and they show them at the end. Makes me think, do they only show the audience at the end if a former contestant (or someone famous) is present? Could that be why they sometimes show it and sometimes they don't?
