As for your journalling no need / not good to whack your on the head with 'should' about the journal ... 'should' is such a finger pointing word ... change to 'could' ... you could journal ... could offers options ... I have kept a journal for years ... some days a few scrawled lines, some days pages ... it is all good.

Best places I would say are Calton Hill and Arthur’s seat/ Salisbury Crags and the entrance of the castle is pretty good too!! And there’s soo much you can do, go up the royal mile, one of the major streets in Edinburgh, there’s princes street the shopping street and princes street gardens which gets a great view of the castle. Further a field a little bit there’s Stockbridge, circus lane ( a famous street) and Dean village these are all gorgeous places!! There’s so many cafe spots to try. The portrait gallery and the national gallery are free and are really good!
