For a lack of better term, I should say that your performance was EXCELLENT. The way you sang your first piece, Hymnus Ad Galli Cantum, - the arrangement, the quality, the harmony, the richness, and the on point beat... It's on a whole new level of which I cannot claim to be familiar with. The repertoire nowadays seem to border on less melodically defined music, and more on bravura and technics. I applaud this scintillating performance of course, maybe simply due to the ingenious transitions between songs void of pitch finding or pitch feeding (unless I'm wrong then I stand corrected), and also because singing songs like these whose pitches within the songs themselves move to ambiguous states such as with the wailings, the screams and the feigned laughters, it's almost impossible to retain the original pitch whence they started then just suddenly go into a four part chordal harmony with ease and not go dissonant by accident. I normally would not go to a performance to wait for mistakes and I'm happy to tell myself that there doesnt (or didn't) seem to be any (but what would I know since all these songs are absolutely unheard of and unknown to me. Honestly). Still, having performed the songs in this chronology, and maintaining till end the quality of vocal rendition is as amazing as watching the Cirque du Soleil. It would be more shocking if the Singing Ambassadors were not given a win, which in this case is the grand prize. Amazing performance. You are and still are one of my favorite choral ensemble (mainly because you are fantastic sound technicians). You have great balance and great tone which to a listener like myself, is of paramount significance and prerequisite. My only lament to this performance (or line up actually) is that I miss hearing more melodically entrenched songs and emotionally expressive lyrics, the likes of Bruckner's Ave Maria or Verdi's 4 Sacred pieces or even Vivaldi's In Terra Pax from Gloria, although I understand that there would be need for orchestral accompaniment and that's not part of this competition. I hope though that one day, your ensemble can do all those pieces I mentioned. You are worthy and capable. Belated Congratulations to your win last year! You do Filipino arts and culture proud!

The blending and quality of kamer's choir, should I say was the best among all the competitors. This is also good but comparing it will put this definitely in 2nd place. Still beautiful though.

You could really distinguish how non-music majors react from that of a music major or those with substantial music background, to say the least. First, this is a European Choral Competition. Hence, the judges are mostly Europeans. Second, this is not a pageant event. Third is that this is a battle of musicality w/ a certain "level" of technicality and difficulty rolled into one. Those people with no background with other music genres will never appreciate this type of performances. Just saying. #realtalk

Their vocals was by far the most impressive and musically perfect.. But I think the gesture of the choirmaster before the first piece was a bit annoying and imposing.. Yes, the song choices was not good enough and the sequencing, they won't complement well with each other.. I also agree a bit that the costume was not that very appealing.. The choreography too.. Sorry but its only my opinion.. But they have the best vocal dynamics and blending.. Bravo UPSA..

I’m used to listening chorus of Verde, Mozart, Handel etc. which are melodious and angelic! And I also love listening to our choir group singing Filipino folkloric songs with such beautiful rendition of “katakataka”, “paruparong bukid” and other kundiman songs for chorus! Although I love the blending of their voices the choosen choral pieces is I think not the right choice! Very much European and sorry we’re not European!😫

In this kind of competition, I think the sound matters. the costume was not a huge mistake. When you see it in actual, you will be amazed.

What I was trying to say was, judging could be subjective, first impression usually matters, and it could be the decider if one competes with an equally impressive group. Even in pop competitions, song choices matter a lot; they could highlight a singer's vocal prowess. Like it or not, appearance matters a lot, too. Take for instance Ateneo Glee Club's performance at Cork Festival in 2012 - song choices and appearance mattered there and they won, although I could say for certain that they were not as great as UPSA as a choir. Judges are people, too, influenced by aesthetics just like you and me.

It may depend on the time of year in Europe? If summer, barong would have been a good but if the performance was between November and March, suit is good as these are the cold months.

I have just watched the winner's (Kamer's) performance. It seemed the suit for the gentlemen was a required outfit? If so, I'm sorry for my other comment below. However, their song choices were far more exciting compared to UPSA's which were quite boring. Also UPSA's choreography bordered on the corny. Sorry. Pls don't get me wrong; I'm one of those Filipinos who gets teary-eyed whenever the Philippines wins in any international competition, but I've watched the Madz performances when they clinched the titles and I would say UPSA still has to pickup a thing or two from the Madz.

The songs were not appealing. Filipino traditional songs would have been better for such good voices . Filipina gowns were alright... they were simple and not too overdecorated and not too colorful.
