I wonder if David Peace had any inside information about the Yorkshire police force when he was writing the Red Riding books. He seemed to know so many details and clearly the characters were based on real life people.

It's more about GB84 and Dammed United but very little about Red Riding... though Peace mentions he loved writing it. The TV series introduced me to his writing. So interesting
