He just read lines on a script and collected a paycheck when Unknown Hinson earned that part. Was it right for the fat cats to replace a man with another man simply because of race? No. But it wasn’t right for a fat cat to put a lazier cat to do a good cat’s job though. If you want to twist my words around and say something I ain’t, you got nothing else goin’ on in your life and you just looking to argue. Don’t bother. TL;DR Tracy Morgan sucked as Early. Back in the late 80s and 90s, there were quite a few really creative shows on public access. Now all its used for is political pandering and fighting. But it used to be a really great place to find hidden gems.

The first time I saw Unknown was on the public access show with Reb called "The Wild Wild South". Saw that as a kid at my friends house who had one of those big satellite dishes back in the day. Unknown was hilarious!

I came here to tell a VERY similar story. Except it was my neighbor Terry who had a 10ft satellite dish installed in the late 80s... We discovered Unknown from the same show, and later made a special 2hr trip to a record store in New Orleans so we could buy his albums and get a contact address for him. We wrote letters, and he wrote back (IDK if it was actually Hinson) and told us when he would be playing near our stupid little Mississippi town. I treasure those yellowed letters Unknown sent me more than a lot of my family heirloom crap. I can still hear the weird little motor that moved the dish around to connect to different satellites.

Public access tv was a goldmine of interesting content compared with the relatively cookie-cutter unprofessional stuff you usually see on YT. You had to put more work into it and actually leave your house and deal with other people. Only the most talented, dedicated and creative and/or the most deranged would jump through all the hoops and make it to air. Unknown Hinson is a testament to that fact. You also had certain standards you had to uphold. On YT there's some fancy editing done of re- used, unoriginal (as in not owned or created by the producer) material but very little interesting original material and it's almost always made for only one reason - to get clicks. Hinson might be selling shirts and cassettes but that wasn't the sole reason for the show existing, creating the content itself was more the point with any profit (likely not a lot) existing to support the work, not the other way around.

The comedy of this is genius. In the way that some don't know who the real character is. (Person or personality) If it's Danny or Hinson. Reminds me of Andy Kaufmans alter ego, Tony Clifton.
