So, with the synths being in their music now, the band members say that those synth riffs are there to fill in the gap of the overall sound of the music. Very good choice they made, because it sounded epic!

When Britney sings: 'I am the weapon of empires past' (or passed, either works), I just imagine tens of thousands of young women getting into metal and rock and that makes me so, so, so happy. The more equality in metal, the better. Especially when most guys would struggle mightily to measure up to this majesty.

Pretty sure it's "empires vast". "Past" was the last word in the previous line. Edit: it's the harmonies Brittney belts out that get me throughout their entire discography. The entire Abyss album is incredible, my personal favourite being "The wind that shapes the land".

And the guys you're making excuses for resent the fact she's just a better singer than they are 😉 The fact is, the number of women in metal is still tragically low so MY comment was supporting and praising a woman that raises the bar for women in metal. And if you think that people DON'T need competition to thrive, ask any company who simply buys their competition if that truly makes them stronger. Now I don't have notifications on, so you probably won't even see this (4 years later) and maybe you won't care to reply. I probably won't see it, but people pushing other people is how they get better. Competition IS A GOOD THING. And again, if it's not and there are bands you think are suffering because of it, maybe stop defending them and let them speak for themselves 🤷

Honestly, this whole album is such a banger. It starts off with a gut punch and just keeps swinging. The whole album keeps the momentum from the first song, while still creating different moods with each song. Each track fits together perfectly, and the whole album ends up telling an epic story. This album is a masterpiece, and I really think more people should know about it.

Thanks guys for a reaction that FINALLY hits the nail right on the head! This is definitely a fusion of classic and power metal at its finest. For all the naysayers, Apex took us on a journey of epic proportions and Awakening was only one song of ten on that album. In addition, there were different styles of songwriting throughout that album to reflect the mood of the particular piece of the story they were telling. Seeing some of the teaser videos in the studio, Abyss will certainly follow suit. I am very happy for them and this amazing song....such a classic feel with a modern twist. Certainly worth the wait in my humble opinion!!

Yeah, Abyss is another concept album taking place 50 years after Apex. Brit was talking about it on twitch the other day. From the sounds of it the album is more sci-fi than Apex but will still have a good amount of fantasy feel. I'm looking forward to the story they tell and like you said the different styles of songwriting reflecting the mood of each piece. With how absolutely incredible Apex was and hearing her talk about the new album and her genuine excitement around it and hearing this track. I'm sure it'll be another killer record.

Hey guys! This album, I think, is a straight homage to DragonForce: "Summon the strength of millenniums past/Forged in the fires and flame." This song is, IMHO, a lot like Awakening -- hence the reason why I call it an homage to DragonForce. And Brittney's voice is so, so strong -- I really want to hear all of the other songs on the album! Lastly, I dont know if either of you know, but Abyss drops August 21! I found that out from the General of Metalandia herself, Brittney Slayes, when she reacted to Abyss with Heath, aka Mr. Rock N Roll. Glad to see you guys still rockin', and staying safe! The real question is what do they do to their bass players that they all leave. Her vocals are amazing. First part of the solo is shredder mode the second part is more melodic part.

Their bassist Nico left in 2017 because he could not afford to live in Vancouver and pay extra $ to tour. Their touring bassist now lives in Ontario and has many other commitments with other projects. Also, Brittney said in an interview recently that the 4 of them are such a tight knit group right now that adding a permanent bassist to that mix is not being considered.
