Unleash the Archers has a song called "Northwest passage" that sounds like an anthem, metal style. It's so cool that the harmonies are so nice. EDIT; I just watched Britney's video on the MV of this song where she explained "Northwest passage" is a cover song written by Stan Rogers, and is apparently known as Canada's second national anthem, so it makes sense it sounds like one...

Abyss is the Awakening equivalent in the story about the Immortal. But this time, instead of being awoken in his mountain, he wakes up on a spaceship confused, wondering why he isn't in his mountain lair. To stick true with the story, I'd say listen to Shadow Guide(chp2) and The Matriarch(chp3) on your own time, and if you like, read the lyrics from those songs, as well as Awakening (chp1). Then come in with a banger reaction to Cleanse The Bloodlines (chp4). It has an epic video and the song is epic. Enough of my Pitter Patter. This hoser approves 🤣

The more I listen to this song, the more I freaking love it. The guitar riff during the chorus reminds me of the classic Helloween and Gamma Ray sound, and that's always a plus on my book. I'll be honest, the first time I heard UTA, I wasn't all that impressed with Britt's voice but she's definitely grown on me. And damn, she has some great sustain on those high notes. To top it all off, she seems to be genuinely friendly when interacting with fans and youtube reactors (on top of being a huge sci-fi and fantasy nerd).

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! ABYSS Open my eyes in a daze How long has it been? Am I so out of place? Warmth I can no longer feel My mountain is gone, I'm surrounded by steel The strangest of structures arises ahead, seems to be held up by nothing Where have I gone, do I dream? How can the stars be all I can see? Dark embrace Has someone awakened me? Please show your face Cold and quiet space Out so far beyond stars and the sun, filling my heart up with wonder, unknown Now, to the edge of imagination, open my eyes to phenomenon, and hope Feverishly I explore Searching for someone, there has to be more I can't be the only one here My path always guides me, there's nothing to fear Then why do I feel so immensely alone, this can't be the end of my story Onward I go once again, fighting my way to my final breath Into the abyss Out so far beyond stars and the sun, filling my heart up with wonder, unknown Now, to the edge of imagination, open my eyes to phenomenon, and hope Summon the strength of millenniums past, forged by the fire and flame I am the weapon of empires vast, Immortal is more than a name Cry into the chasm ahead, into to the sky never ending, although Time will tell if I'm worthy of it, a future of final transcending, alone

Pure fucking metal.. I know Arch Enemy coined that phrase, but that definitely applies to Unleash The Archers too. Everything about them is cheesy, powerful, and technically adept at their craft. Great video tank! On the Bass situation, after they had a few bass players leave right after an album (Brittney jokingly said they could predict the post-album tour conversation to go "I'm broke and my girlfriend hates me, I'm out...") they've been in a situation where they don't want to just add a bass player and potentially affect the mesh of the band, which is super tight atm, unless they are absolutely sure it's THE person for the future. Combine that with I believe Nick Miller, their touring bassist (Who is awesome, saw him in '18 on their tour) living in Eastern Canada while they're in the West, they just don't see it as a reason to rush the decision.

Yeah, Apex from 2017 is the start of the story and Abyss concludes it. It's a fantasy story about a being called The Immortal who lives in a mountain and is cursed to do the bidding of whoever awakens him. The Matriarch is the antagonist of the story and awakens The Immortal and tasks him with murdering her four sons so she can use their blood in a ritual to gain eternal life. That's the basic plot and the songs have more details to flesh everything out across both albums. So it's obviously recommend to react to the songs in order, starting with Apex and going through it until you end it with Abyss' final track. If you want more Unleash the Archers that is not tied to this double-album story, then check out these songs: "General of the Dark Army" "Tonight We Ride" "Test Your Metal" "Northwest Passage" "Dawn of Ages" Thanks Tank!

All their new stuff is fantastic. As is the Apex album. I actually also recommend an older track, Time Stands Still. I know what you mean about Brittney’s make up too! Also check out : - Kalidia - Frozen Throne Serenity - Set The World On Fire Wind Rose - To Erebor Frozen Crown - I Am The Tyrant 🙂🤘🏻

Fun coming back to rewatch these after some time has passed. The new bass player is Nick Miller, who was their touring bassist for the last few years and was made an official full member of the band last year. Super talented dude who also plays guitar in a band called First Fragment.

Enjoying your mix of metal enthusiasm and gear insights. More UTA would be welcome. Tonight We Ride, Faster Than Light and Northwest Passage should all be on your list.

When this song was first released, 5yo wanted to know where everyone disappeared to. I directed her to "Tonight We Ride". Of course the storyline is inaccurate and raises more questions if so (like, why did they change clothes???), but 'that's what happens when you get lost in space'.

I think a Gloryhammer/UTA collab song (or album) would be the shit. Chris and Brittney need to make it happen. 😊 Keep rockin, dude. 🤘And her wails on this song aren't even the tip of the iceberg on this album. Gotta check out "Faster Than Light".

The Apex album was and is amazing, yet I think that Abyss surpasses it in every way. Listening to both albums back to back is a fun way to experience the story. Then watch all the track-by-track videos on youtube where Brittney goes on a deep dive into the lore/story for every single song. Would love to watch you react to the rest of the songs from both albums in order. But if you think going through the Apex and Abyss albums in order is a bit too much for the channel, here's a list of Unleash the Archers songs you should definitely react to: Tonight We Ride, Northwest Passage, Cleanse the Bloodlines, The Matriarch, Apex, Soulbound, Faster Than Light, Legacy

This was filmed just after we went into COVID lockdown here in BC. As I understand it, during filming there were just the four band members and the director (he has the cameo sweeping up at the end) in the building.

I'm wearing my UtA shirt today, too. Mine is just the band name on a black t-shirt, I usually don't really like having too much going on on my t-shirts, but that's just personal preference.

YEEES! I’m so happy you got back to Unleash the Archers! Thank you! I hope you’ll also get to Soulbound and Legacy because, is awesome as this song is, I think those are even better. Soulbound features some great screams from Grant. I love their use of the synthesizer throughout this album; it’s an “easy” way to give everything a spacey, science fiction vibe. I know Chase Carneson listened to a lot of this album already, but I hope you will get the chance to perhaps do a double reaction with him while listening to more of Unleash the Archers.

Nice! I was hoping you would come back to UTA. I have probably watched the Awakening reaction 10+ times. I wish I could go to concerts again, but at least my last one was UTA with Dragonforce just a few days before everything was cancelled.

The album Apex and the Album abyss are telling a story of a character that they call the immortal so to get the whole story and know what's going on you have to listen to all songs on both albums

I love UTA!! When I describe UTA to new people, I say think if Iron Madien and Judas Priest had a baby and Dio told it bed time stories. Check out Archon Legion Battle Ride Live and March of the Inquistors. They have videos for these and you can listen to the album on KZbin. It is Andy King and Grant Truesdell, the guitarists before UTA. It's Awesome!!!
