Eyup. That and Northwest Passage. I have friends and family in Canada, I'm originally born in Sweden by Finnish parents, but when I heard Northwest Passage on a pub crawl in Montreal and sang along I am now apparently an adopted Canadian. And I don't mind it a bit.

Stan Rogers has a catalogue well worth exploring. He has an amazing voice and his song writing was wonderful. I recommend listening to "Barrett's Privateers" if you want a belt along sea shanty.

Late, but Stan died in an airline accident where they actually put down safely, smoke was coming from the fuselage of the plane, and he initially got out safely, but went back to help other passengers get out, and that is when the plane went up in flames

This song and "Home For A Rest" (by Spirit Of The West) are the two songs some people say should be our national anthem. Both of them are great. 😊 And yes, Andrew has a great voice.

IMMORTAL IS MORE THAN A NAME! NORTHWEST PASSAGE Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage And make a Northwest Passage to the sea Westward from the Davis Strait 'tis there it was said to lie The sea route to the Orient for which so many died Seeking gold and glory, leaving weathered, broken bones And a long-forgotten lonely cairn of stones Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage And make a Northwest Passage to the sea Three centuries thereafter, I take passage overland In the footsteps of brave Kelso, where his ""sea of flowers"" began Watching cities rise before me, then behind me sink again This tardiest explorer, driving hard across the plain And through the night, behind the wheel, the mileage clicking west I think upon Mackenzie, David Thompson and the rest Who cracked the mountain ramparts and did show a path for me To race the roaring Fraser to the sea Ah, for just one time I would take the Northwest Passage To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea Tracing one warm line through a land so wide and savage And make a Northwest Passage to the sea How then am I so different from the first men through this way Like them I left a settled life, I threw it all away To seek a Northwest Passage at the call of many men To find there but the road back home again

So we see her at a grave with several band members names on it.. My interpretation of the video is that she was experiencing alternate realities and was finding the one where they don't get into an accident so when she finds the timeline she goes back to off herself cause only she knows what timeline to follow so none of them die.. They brought in ex band members for this video who are no longer in the band. (To create the alternate timelines) we basically keep seeing the timeline changing cause she keeps changing it and she's seeing it change cause she's the one changing it (the confused look at the twizzler part) :)

Brittney explained the video herself in some interviews. You're meant to track Brittney with the pinkie ring at the beginning (evil Brittney) and Brittney without a pinkie ring (good Brittney) as two separate characters. Evil Brittney lives in a reality where the band doesn't get along and are always fighting with each other, so she deals with it by doing something like that TV show sliders and goes hopping around different dimensions looking for a reality where the band is happy and successful. In the graveyard scene the person in the background is meant to be Evil Brittney spying on another version of herself in a reality where the band died. The ending of the video shows Evil Brittney murder Good Brittney to steal her place in the reality where the band is happy and successful.

Sir John Franklin's ship was found in 2016. After not being able to find it, the scientists decided to listen to the Inuit who knew where it was. There was even stories about the ship passed down from generation to generation. "Ultimately, it was collaborating with local Inuit that led Canadian research vessels to discover the shipwrecks in much more recent history. Inuit Qauijimajatuqangit - oral history - told of one ship trapped in ice and sinking near King William Island, while another drifted south. In 2014, HMS Erebus was discovered along the eastern edge of the Queen Maud Gulf, south of King William Island. The search for HMS Terror continued until 2016, when Sammy Kogvik of Gjoa Haven told a story he had been keeping secret to his boss while aboard an Arctic Research Foundation vessel searching for the wreck - he had seen a strange piece of wood that looked like a ship's mast poking through the ice while snowmobiling years before." and ""

Rogers died alongside 22 other passengers most likely of smoke inhalation on June 2, 1983, while traveling on Air Canada Flight 797 (a McDonnell Douglas DC-9) after performing at the Kerrville Folk Festival. The airliner was flying from Dallas, Texas, to Toronto and Montreal when a fire of unknown ignition source within the vanity or toilet shroud of the aft washroom forced it to make an emergency landing at the Greater Cincinnati Airport in northern Kentucky. There were initially no visible flames, and after attempts to extinguish the fire were unsuccessful, smoke filled the cabin. Upon landing, the plane's doors were opened, allowing the five crew and 18 of the 41 passengers to escape, but approximately 90 seconds into the evacuation the oxygen rushing in from outside caused a flash fire

Also a legit hero. He died in a plane accident, in fact the crash that caused airplanes to start having lights along the floor that would lead you to exits. Plane caught fire in the air, and by the time the pilots got it on the ground the cabin was full of smoke and the passengers were panicked and many couldn't find the exits. Rogers got out, then went back in. They found him a few feet from the door, dead of smoke inhalation, and a number of the passengers who did survive reported that the only reason they got out was Rogers standing by the door shouting "follow the sound of my voice".

Their old bass player even made an appearance in this video in the photo shoot scene and the pumping gas scene. He's the one who looks at her and says, "What?". I may be mistaken, but I think the names on the tombstone at the Cemetery were past members. 🤘😊🤘
@VorAbaddon
@VorAbaddon 3 жыл бұрын
Nah, Andy was the guy pumping gas, one of their current guitar players (the ginger). Their former guitarist does make an appears in the scene where they're all sitting and jamming in the studio, he's the gent with short, dark hair and a beard. The names on the tombstone are the other current members, Scott (the other co-founder with Britt, drummer), Grant (Guitarist who's not Ging), and Andy (current Ging-guitarist). The idea of that scene is it's a timeline or alternate history where they all died in some sort of accident (the death year is all the same) and Britt is left to wonder why she lived and if she should carry on... as the other Britt looks on in the background annoyed that this timeline doesn't have a band to steal.

Stan Rogers died on a flight which I took several times in the 1980's, Houston, to Dallas, to Toronto. Someone smoking in the washroom dumped their butt in the paper towel dispenser and lit the plane on fire. By the time the plane landed in Cleveland the cabin had filled with smoke. Stan did not make it out.

I like to think that the music video is a metaphor for the journey to find the northwest passage. An idea/dream can only succeed if you don't give up on it. So many realities in the video were paths to UTA and the Brittany that gave up on UTA was forever lost to the dream.

Northwest Passage: Actually, what many thought there had to exist in order to go from what is now the East Coast of the United States, to India, so that trade would be quicker. Little did they know that an entire continent was actually in the way, lol. And evidence of this is actually the title of a US 1787 law called "The Northwest Ordinance," which was a law governing what is now Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin -- the five modern-day states that were to the northwest of the original 13 Colonies. By the way, this is the song that takes a church choir and turns it into a metal band, by combining a "pirate-y sea shanty" with a "fast-paced metal ballad." Lol Edit: Northwest Passage is about following your dreams, no matter what lies in the future. Just like the explorers of old who crossed an entire continent to try and find that mythical passage, this song is about following your own dreams. It's why you have the multiple iterations and universes all colliding, as the message is, your life is made up of choices and regrets -- hence the headstone with "U.T.A." on it, as the headstone represents the death of an unsuccessful dream, one that may have been attempted and failed, or one never followed. It is, at it's core, a song about living life, and not having regrets. Not wondering, "What if...?"

Brittney was also playing guitar at one point and also was a fan as well. According to Brittney, evil Brittney is the one who emerges as the last one. From one history nerd to another, here's some YT documentaries on Franklin's two ships HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. They were found along with bodies of the crew, in excellent condition. Well worth the watch. There's lots of them, so I only listed a few: Hunt For The Arctic Ghost Ship - Channel 4 Documentary. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4TRoGanqqx7lbc Arctic Passage (2006) - The Franklin Expedition (HMS Terror and HMS Erebus). kzbin.info/www/bejne/nF7Yg6uKdpWpaM0 Buried in Ice (1988). kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqXRZ6KJqZaLmc0 Inside the HMS Terror. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4iopZ9_j9N7b9U Arctic Tomb(Franklin expedition documentary). kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5ucZadqqbNkrZI

@@HistoryBuff Start with "Inside the HMS Terror" as the level of preservation is outstanding. We're used to seeing underwater archaeology showing wooden ship wrecks that are little more than ribs poking through the sediment and marine growth. Most of the wood from these wrecks having been eaten away by shipworms, but not these two ships. They are fully intact, having been preserved by the cold water and the absence of shipworms.
