Crazy how thing still has a 1zz engine turbo charged pulliing off 500hp. I have the 2zz engine non turbo but man thats awesome. This inspires me to not give up on the celica 😜
@WPXTacoMan4773 жыл бұрын
1zz is better for turbo applications, already has a lower compression ratio, and you don’t have to delete the lift, which you wouldn’t really want in the 2zz since turbo is pretty much like being in lift 24/7 but on steroids. Plus I think, and I’m not 100% sure but I believe the 1zz is a bit stronger of a block as well
@obscure.mystic3 жыл бұрын
@@WPXTacoMan477 You're right about everything except the last part. If I'm not mistaken, the 2zz has stronger connecting rods/rod bearings to compensate for Lift/higher revs and is less likely to suffer from oil starvation because the 1zz pre 2003 had incorrect piston ring spacing from the factory. 03+ the piston rings were fixed, but the overall strength of the engine wasn't changed.

mark colclough I’m looking to purchase one. Can’t find anything online about how the GT is better than the GT-S. Can you help?
@BrokkrtheDwarf5 жыл бұрын
@@OpalsRealm The shell of the Gen 7 GT and GT-S are pretty much identical. The only real differences are the transmissions (which is easy swap) and engines. The 1ZZ vs the 2ZZ. While their displacement is the same the 1ZZ is designed to have a quick response with high torque due to a longer stroke ratio. The 2ZZ is designed for a higher RPM, but lacks the quick response because it's meant to work at those higher revs. One of the reasons that Mark is saying the 1ZZ is better for a turbo is probably due to the fact the 1ZZ is more dependable overall and doesn't suffer oil starvation like the 2ZZ is infamous for.

well he has NOT got any dyno sheets on the website , im sure if it was 500hp he would be posting non stop as it is very rare for a 1zz to get that type of power. the 1zz is like a b18 from honda no torque but vvti but when you see civics with 500hp they are mental even with full interior but a stripped out celica is very light so i'd imagine that it would be very similar in terms of getting the power down but this celica seems lifeless i dunno if its the turbo lag but its just not there.

GT is better in every way, from handling, to torque, for turbo builds, aftermarket support etc. So gt stock is faster around corners, no need to tune it even more. So you know the car and drove it on the track to post your expert opinion? No? You can see a dynorun of the car here ->kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZqmdKZ-lN6jna8 but this was 2 years before i made the video and they tuned it a bit more to get on the 500HP. But all that you could have checked before you posted just by reading the description. :)
