Basil is a fragrant herb native to tropical regions. It is a tender plant, and is used in cuisines worldwide. There are many varieties of basil and all of them can be grown from their stalks. Some of them are annual and some are perennial. The black or purple holy basil has a lot of health benefits as per Ayurveda. Basil is sensitive to cold and likes warm weather. They can be grown both indoors and outdoors.

I cut the stems with leaves from the basil branch and plant it directly into the soil. It grows just as easily!

You are exactly right. Herbs like basil and mint can grow so easily that you don't ever have to buy them from the stores.

Do not put stalks directly in organic compost. You can put it in coco peat and perlite mixture.

Basil plants like partil sun. So give them just morning sun or grow them under a tree where they do not get harsh afternoon sun

Is your mint getting direct sun? Mint likes a lot of water and a lot of sun

I love your channel! Thank you so much for your videos! I do however have a question, Can you do the same with Roses?
@EasyPeasyGardening
@EasyPeasyGardening 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the encouraging words, appreciate it. No, you can't do this with roses. For roses, it is best to plant the cuttings directly in the soil with some rooting hormone. But the best option for roses is grafting or air layering. We have just air layered a few trees, will post the video soon.

@@EasyPeasyGardening What about stored in olive oil or frozen? Pesto seems to keep quite well frozen (albeit fresh is better). Can you recommend any easy recipes with basil from your culture’s amazing traditional cuisine?
