The backdrop of the beautiful Rocky Mountain would be a calming effect on the prisoners as they serve their sentences. I hope the Department of Correctional has a place where they can go before parole. So good to see Mike back on the road again 😂

Not related to this video, but I just wanted to give a friendly reminder to be safe, even while parked somewhere. I found out today, that my one-time stepdaughter's father passed away from possible heat stroke, in his rig, down on So Cal. He had been a trucker for around 40 years. I even worked with him locally here for a couple of years. Anyway, keep these great videos coming. PEACE!!

Buena Vista area is my favorite. I took my RV just off 285 between Buena and Salida. Stay free up to 14days. I didn't fish but there's river access further down. Another time in Colorado I was pulling a "skateboard" of bobcat parts. A dry van passed me and rolled over on 70 east.

I used to carry my fishing pole too. I drove cabover, though and there wasn't anyplace to put it without it getting crunched. So, I mounted two of the pear shaped shower curtain hooks from the ceiling of the back of the sleeper and could slide the long end in one hook and the reel end in the other. The curtain hooks were rubbing on my fiberglass pole, though so I padded the shower curtain hooks with some foam rubber. It didn't rattle when I hit bumps anymore either... woo hoo! Ya gotta fish when ya can!

Hi Mike, you’ve been missed, obviously from the comments. Just pulled in from Vegas myself. Left 10.00 AM got here 11:00 PM lost a hour due to time change. 12 hours on the road 750 miles, split driving with my spouse. Took an hour for dinner in Phoenix. Took about 2 grand with us came back with $1200.00 not bad for 4 days of gaming. Good food but the hotel, Golden Nugget offered no amenities, included no room maid service , no valet parking, only 5 to a poker table, 3 to a blackjack table. Still managed to have a good time. Hope you are doing well? Enjoying the ride and will look forward to the next one. Thank you, Edward.

@Riding Shotgun I like the way you handle your job, both the professionalism with which you do it and the way way you manage to get get some in recreation as well, without hurting your job performance. It reminds me of a Shakespeare quote "There is no profit made where there is no pleasure taken" ( I believe that was from "The Taming of the Shrew").

There in Buena Vista lies the old Union Pacific Tennessee Pass Subdivision. There are talks about reviving the sub, which will give Union Pacific an alternate route west. As of now the only route west out of Denver will be the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision. This is the same subdivision Amtrak's California Zephyr runs. The California Zephyr runs from Chicago Illinois to Emeryville California. It currently serves the states of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and California respectively. It runs BNSF territory from Chicago to Denver, then runs Union Pacific territory from Denver to Emeryville. The Union Pacific Tennessee Pass Subdivision runs from Pueblo off the off the Pikes Peak Subdivision to the Glenwood Springs Subdivision at Dotsero, just west of Gypsum Colorado. The Moffat Tunnel Subdivision runs from Denver to Phippsburg where it merges with the Craig Subdivision. Back in Bond the Moffat Tunnel will diverge onto the Glenwood Springs Sub at C.P Bond. Then the Glenwood Springs Subdivision will run to Grand Junction where it will merge onto the Green River Sub to Helper Utah. As you know the headwaters of the Arkansas River is near Leadville Colorado off the East Fork of the Arkansas River and Tennessee Creek. It runs all the way to the Mississippi River near the town of Beulah Mississippi. The Arkansas River runs through the states of Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. The navigation channel for barges actually begins on the Verdigris River in Catoosa Oklahoma at the Port of Catoosa. The Verdigris River will then have its confluence with the Arkansas River north of Muskogee Oklahoma. This is a part of the McClellan-Kerr Navigation System.

One of the more interesting household moves I did was McNeil Island, Washington State when I had a prison guard's possessions as my 1st shipment going east that run. Had to take a ferry to get there since no bridge. On site at gate they inspected underneath rig, trailer for content, cab for content, sniffer dog for contraband. Loaded the gentleman up & upon leaving same routine. Seems like he went to Clinton, OK where he was raised to retire.

Always stop at Gunsmoke for pit stop and coffee between San Luis Valley (childhood home) and Front Range. See they haven't fixed the holes in the parking lot. When you said you were going to Olathe I thought maybe you'd go over Wolf Creek Pass but I guess through Montrose is faster. Stay safe, there are a lot of us out here wishing you safe travels.

I unfortunately spent 2 years as a resident at Buena Vista Correctional facility. And 6 months at the bootcamp. I went back years later, to see the town, and everything that was around the prison. It's been over 21 years since I was there, possibly even longer. And I haven't even had as much as a speeding ticket. FYI, never lie for someone you love, because they may not love you the same.

I read the sign at 8:20 about preventing escapes. You should deliver to Lake City in Independence Mo. They frisk you, go through your truck and take any and everything that resembles a weapon and once your backed in they take your keys, put a cover over the steering wheel and tell you to stay put until someone bring's your keys back. It took longer to get in than it did to get unloaded. That's not the same prison El Chapo is located is it?

That is a beautiful joint. I fell in love with jail and prison when I was 15 and had to go to a juvenile diversion program where we spent a day touring the county jail. Most kids I was with were scared straight, however I was fascinated by the whole concept and got a kick out of the inmates talking smack to us kids and I saw these huge muscular guys telling us if you want to get big come and do some time. Needless to say when I was 19 I went to that same jail for 6 months. By 22 I wound up with a 3 year prison sentence. I was paroled at 2 years. I gained 30 lbs of muscle. Became a man. I learned a lot and met lots of interesting people. I got out in. January 1995 and never went back. I believe all kids need to do at least 3 years when they turn 18.
@heavenstomurgatroyd70333 жыл бұрын
BIGDAVE5352 - So you're a convicted felon and can never get a real job, why in the world would you want every 18 year old to screw up their life? Prison didn't make you a man it kept you from growing up and becoming one. Don't act like its something to be proud of......

The owner of the Shell station right across the street from Gunsmoke is the nicest person in the world. I blew up the engine in my Audi on July 4th 2020, 14 days before you were there. I coasted it about seven miles down the pass without the engine running. @14:38 if you were turned just a little bit more left you would have seen it in the back lot. He let me keep it there for a few months while I arranged to get it back to Colorado Springs. Please buy gas from nice people!
