Unlock a Car with SHOELACE - (no keys)

We have all done it. You exit your car and shut the door behind you somehow locking the door.
This tutorial shows you to unlock certain vehicles using no special tools. The only thing you will be using is a shoelace x2.
Full Instructions: captainlockpic...
Step 1: You will want to remove the shoelaces off of a pair of shoes. You will need two.
Step 2: Tie the two shoelaces together by tying a double knot and the end of each lace.
Step 3: Form a loop about 3/4 of the way down the string and tie another double knot.
Step 4: Starting at the top corner of the door jamb with the long side of the string towards the front of the car, slide your lace behind the door. Pull it from side to side until you see the loop inside the car through the window.
Step 5: Position the loop over the lock mechanism. This can take a few attempts.
Step 6: Once loop is hooked around lob mechanism, pull the string tight using the short end of the lace that is toward the back of the vehicle. Lift up slowly until your vehicle is unlocked.

Just wanted say thank you for posting this video!!! Didn’t exactly use a shoestring, but it worked great in retrieving the keys from my mothers 2009 Impala. Only took me about 2 or 3 minutes to accomplish the task and saved us a locksmithing fee! For that style pull knob, a hanger would have been very difficult, if not almost impossible, so thanks again!! 😁👍🏻

It worked. It's nice to know as long as I'm not wearing sandals. I'll be able to do this if I ever need to again. This was not easy on an Honda Accord. Co-op, just getting the laces to run through took a little bit of crying but once it went in there, it worked great and there was no damage to the seals on the door thanks a lot.

My husband was upset that I didn't pay roadside assistance and he left the keys inside and the Jeep was running. Due to my anxiety I went to KZbin to see if there was anything I could do and I found this video. I saw it 8 times and my hubby mad at me wouldn't let me do it until he allowed me to and banggggg. A lasso tool(Like the one HPC makes)can be made from a strip of plastic cut from a chopping mat and dental floss, and a strap tool(Which is most effective of straight buttons(Like those used on Toyota products)), can be made folding 24 inches of plastic box strapping tape in half and gluing a piece of fine grit sandpaper on the inside tip for grip

Awesome that can end up being a real lifesaver, We always look for a clothes hanger and then when you’re out in the middle of nowhere you usually can’t find one and then it kind of tears up the car because you have to make the gap so big and it’s hard metal. This is a great hack thank you so much

Pretty cool. Wouldnt' work with my car though. It doesn't have a pin sticking up out of the door compartment. It's got one of those toggle locks on the side of the door right above the door handle that has no rigid edge for anything to grip even if you could get something near it, which wouldn't be a shoelace because the lock is below the level of the window.

@@CaptainLockPick It's a Jetta: 2010. It's got those locks that are basically just a thumb of plastic that borders the inside pull handle. Locking or unlocking, this thumb of plastic just rotates slightly left or right to expose or hide a small red section to denote if the door is locked or unlocked. There are no rigid edges to hook anything and the little thumb of plastic doesn't even extend outside its frame so no part of it is exposed enough to grab onto with anything. Also, pulling the door handle doesn't trigger the door lock (tried that once too). The only success I had was to wiggle one of those small, pump-up air bags between the door and the jamb (you know those things you pump up to lift a door into position for mounting?) and then extend a rod into the cab to press the unlock button.

This method works if you can slip it into the door .Pins with no hook or anything to hook on works as well but you have to pull it hard to grip the pin .And also multiple attempt needed. very hard to orientate the shoe lace and you will give up before its done but it worked .
