Sadly it did work for me on Alienware 17r5 running win11 23h2 Note. I got my values for cfg and overclock 0x65A and 0x65A respectively. I got into the boot efi, changed the values successfully but still throttlestop was still lock😢

@@el_andreasu.nwaigwe8753 Try going back a few bios versions and make sure you have the right values selected in the ru menu. When i first tried, i changed the wrong values instead of 0704 (0x704) i selected 0074 as i wasnt far enough down the list so double check you changed the right ones

Hello. I updated the BIOS of my ASUS ROG FLOW X16 2023 (i9 13900H). And locked all the values after the update, but i cannot unlock, the BIOS. Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0 have an error message saying PhyDMACCx64.exe error controller (?)

i managed to unlock the bios using the Laptop Tweaking Tips video, but after the shutdown, the bios turn back to the default values 0x01 do you think your method can do something different to the bios? dell 7567 intel 7th gen

After applying this, it saved to my bios. When i updated my bios and undervolt was locked, i reverted the bios back and it remembered. This goes into the bios itself and writes the new values to the bios.

@@ramploo No not resetting the bios back to factory. What i mean is when i updated to a newer bios it has its own set of values which locks everything up again. So you can either unlock this bios or if you roll back your bios to the previous version it remembers that you unlocked it so you dont need to go through this process again

hi, sorry to bother you, but have you found a solution yet? I've got an Alienware M17 R2 and just tried this. I've got the same values as in the video and I made sure to change the right ones. However, when I restart the option is still locked in throttlestop and UEFIbackup still shows the value at 0x01. But when I try to change it in ru.efi it is 0x00?

Hi, I'm currently using a 11th gen laptop, the variables for overclock and cfg are: 0xDF, 0x43. I follow everystep from your guide but at the Setup section the 0xDF variable is not 01. And the page is 0000/000A but I can't use ctr + pgdn to change page. According to Laptop Tweaking Tips guide I need to modify the CpuSetup Section when I got to that I discover that the value for 2 variables are 01 so I change it to 00 but it didn't work. And the page is 0000/0002. I wonder if I'm not in the correct page. And the gruv method also didn't work. Can you help me.

No you aren't on the right page. When you do the initial scan on the uefi image for the lock and open the file, the lock has a varstoreID. @4:54 mine is VarStore: 0x1. At the very top of the page it has a list of all the varstoreIDs. For me 0x1 is the first on the list which to the right is named 'Setup'. Make sure you confirm that on yours. Newer than 10th gen is different. Most are named as CpuSetup. They just changed it. If your variables are 0xDF and 0x43 then make sure RU bios menu when go into whatever your varstore is that in the top left where your column and row align it shows 0xDF. When i first tried for myself i chose 0x07A which is wrong. I had to us cntr + pgdn to get to 0x7A0.

Doesn't boot into the interface keeps booting back into windows... edit: disabled legacy rom and it booted into the interface. Changed the values, throttlestop still saying that it's locked, tried differetence versions to no avail...

Might have changed the wrong variables. I did this the first time around as i didnt align in the box at the top left where the column and row align. Be careful when changing bios variables!

You have not done it properly. The first part is just allowing you to view all the values of the bios. Your file maybe have changed or you might of missed something

You need to find how to boot from the usb. For me i have option F2 for main menu legacy bios and F12 for a menu to choose where i want to boot from

You should look for motherboard info not CPU, try with msinfo32 or hwinfo. Btw apu means cpu + gpu, hope it helps

It gets a bit risky if your CFG-LOCK value sits on an adress like 0x44, because ru-efi will show you the the address in 4 digits and you might be asking, is 0x44 equal to 0440 or 0044. You can easily brick your device just by screwing at this step.

this is if all else fails. Its actually a very simple process just requires some experience. This method allows you to open your bios menu and change any value at its core. These values are what allow you to control on the user end
