I so want a nice thick cotoneaster bonsai tree - they are such beautiful little trees with amazing flowers and tiny fruit that look like miniature apples. 🍎 Nice cascades

Never lose the excitement Xav, I love Cotoneaster they make great trees quickly , I have about five or six in different styles plus three very large ones which I don’t know what to do with then, your cascade after the work you did is looking fantastic perfect for the wedding in a couple of days, the Chinese Elm will make a nice tree in the future, the branch you mentioned I think should be removed but left for now as a safety branch in case Getting back to the cotoneaster I personally would have left it until flowers had gone and enjoyed them but it is your tree my friend and we know what will happen to it, brutal, is the name of the game as a well known game show host would say. I am really glad the wedding went so well and your trees much admired by all. Take care my friend.

On the elm cascade, you could use that back branch as a pad or part of the apex.
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat 4 ай бұрын
I thought about that but I can't help feeling it occurs too low on the trunk to be considered part of the apex. Yes - it could definitely still be used to create a lower pad. Thanks

2 super young bonsai, I’d lose the back branch on the Chinese Elm and develop the crown to fill in the back also.
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat
@XaviersBonsaiRetreat 4 ай бұрын
That is definitely where I am going with this one. A few people have suggested keeping the lowere branch as a sacrificial for trunk development?
@mattb538
@mattb538 4 ай бұрын
I would use the back branch on the Chinese Elm to help thicken the trunk.
@rainproofjeans
@rainproofjeans 4 ай бұрын
This was my thought, since the scar should hide nicely, and I’d echo the other comment that suggested using the apex to balance the back instead of this lower branch. I haven’t messed with cascades yet though, so I’m not speaking from experience 🫢

I think I will take this approach. I agree totally that it will not really be part of any final design. The apex will stand alone to balance as you have already suggested :)

Sorry Xavier, I had to skip some of the commercials. The first two that played, one was 10 seconds, the second was 45 minutes long. The commercial longer than your video. I'll watch commercials to 5 minutes, 10 minutes if the dog needs out or if I need more tea. Otherwise I skip. I do this the same for every channel. So you know. Other than that. This video was fantastic!! Your cascades look great! It's very fun experimenting! Only way to know if you like creating a style or using a certain type of tree. Fun being creative! I'm glad the venue will try to redeem itself. At least...

@@XaviersBonsaiRetreat Ridiculous isn't it? Everything is like that now. Even fun little online games, phone apps, facebook... More advertisements than content it seems. It is what it is.... I do my best to sit through them for everyone. But I had to draw a line. I took picture a while back Google put entire 6 hour conference as a commercial!! 6 hours!!! That's when I drew my line Hahaha! You're correct, there is already many things that are pay per view. I could see that happening here too. I bet they will still have commercials on top of that....🙄
