@@georginajovanovic i assume that kid stars parents, in those days treated acting for kids like a sport. The kids would probably have so much pressure from their parents to out perform, maybe even crew and media pressure as well. Most kids I think get into acting and never get to be themselves again so it could cause an identity crisis.

Being bipolar, I can understand, see and feel a portion of Maia’s pain. The medication numbs you, your thoughts and emotions. I could tell just by looking into her face how hard it was to even cry; her response almost sound robotic. This episode touched me and was very personal. I pray hearts are able to mend for her, her Father and her beautiful little girl.

Watching her fall is incredibly sad. She is battling some demons that none of us know of. In her defense, I think Iylanla was a little biased and not very empathetic because she was friends with her mother. Maia stated several times that it was the words of her mother that harmed her. We have to stop looking at the fact that her mom was famous and understand what went on behind closed doors and was spoken to her. Words are like knives. It clearly is a wound to her soul. I wish Iyanla would have delved more into that.

I agree! And I think she didn’t take into account that once the drugs have you it’s not easy to just not be high and be present! Bipolar is hard to live with and mix that with drugs aswell it’s not easy. It’s not always been understood in the black community as much but people have had to deal with it the best way they can. I love some of her episodes but some I do agree she can be biased in how she sees people. She needs to be a bit more empathetic to people and understand certain things are not based on choices they made willingly.

If you have to watch Iyanla every single day to lift you up and keep you from falling, you do exactly that. What you said touched my heart and soul. I will pray for you even not knowing you. Go and find someone to talk to who isn't bias and can be objective. Do not bury your pain. Let it out and let it go! Find a quiet spot in your house and cry as hard as you have to or need to until you feel better no matter how long it takes. Meditate. Try some yoga to relax your mind. Sending you a big hug. Again, find someone you can trust to share you pain with. There is nothing wrong with talking to a Counselor/Therapist. It doesn't make you any less of a person but it can definitely help you push pass the pain and move forward. It can also be very rewarding. Do not allow the pain and hurt in your heart to control you. You have to control it so it doesn't take you over. The devil is a liar and do not allow him to win. PEACE BE STILL!

I as well was diagnosed as bipolar 2 years ago and take medication. When the manic outburst happens, ppl laugh and think you're crazy not knowing that you're having an outer-body experience. I was committed twice and I still struggle even with the meds but I'm still here. Most of the time it's isolating because no one around can relate so it's refreshing to hear other's experiences.

Self medicating isn't the answer. What people need to understand is there are several types of medications available unlike decades ago. You need to learn coping skills in addition to the meds. Too many times people think you good with just the meds not true. Also, you need to know when to actually take the meds if the meds make you loopy during the day so take them at night and go to bed when you wake up the effects are milder and more manageable. Many people including doctors don't tell you this.

There is growing interest in the investigation of ketogenic diets as a potential therapy for bipolar disorder. The overlapping pharmacotherapies utilized for both bipolar disorder and seizures suggest that a mechanistic overlap may exist between these conditions, with fasting and the ketogenic diet representing the most time-proven therapies for seizure control. Recently, preliminary evidence has begun to emerge supporting a potential role for ketogenic diets in treating bipolar disorder.

I disagree. Iyanla is showing her that there is power in having a different narrative. She said, “they didn’t let me talk to her on the phone.” Yes, they didn’t let her talk to her Mother on the phone AS A RESULT of her behavior while on drugs. If she owns her truth then “what they did” no longer has power over her! She will own what she did heal from it.

Maybe they didn't want to add further heartbreak to her mother's situation. Iyanla just did to Maia, what she replied to the Step-father to not to do. When Iyanla said(35:32), “I don’t care about the resentment in the future. I care about the sadness now”. In this daitlity, she said they were giving her meds and she didn't even know what they were for, it kept her sleepy and drowsy all the time. Two things I noticed that were powerful. That last “thank you” she told her father was so touching i actually felt it. The hug that iyanla gave her daughter was very much needed. The big bear, head laying in the bosom kinda hug that rocks you back and forth was needed cause that little girl probably hasn’t had a motherly hug like that in a very very long time. And the doctor knew that’s why she hugged her that way.

Maia is a beautiful sister and have been battling with some demons. I say a prayer for her every night and ask the Lord to show her the way. She fail off her journey but please show her the way and help her back to her path to a healthy, happy, drug free life and help her and her daughter rekindle a loving mother and daughter relationship. No one is perfect and we all have fallen short one time or another in our lives. The good news is we can always find our way back if we are determined enough. We can do anything through God who strengthens us! This episode just made me cry because I understand her pain in a way. I wasn't on drugs but I was young, lost and confused searching for a love I never had growing up and it lead me down a hurtful, painful, broken road just like her..... When you are young and never really felt you had true genuine love growing up ...especially from your parents bro you go searching for that love in all the wrong places. I went searching for that love and the road it took me down destroyed me. It took the joy away and left me truly broken. I am healing now and moving on but I am truly damaged to the point I live a very lonely life to myself.... I don't know what happen to this beautiful young lady but I connect with the pain coming from looking in her eyes. I understand her pain, her choices, her mistakes and I just pray she is doing well today..... When your lost in these streets not loving yourself you will be used and abuse by everybody you encounter. These streets will break you and only the strong will survive and pull themselves out.... If you ever see this Mrs. Maia Campbell I just want you to know that you can overcome anything with God. It may take years and you may go up and you may go down... you may fall many times but you MUST survive. It's a lesson in the pain you went through if only you are willing to learn ... Just love yourself and stop searching in the trash for the treasure that is in your heart. Love yourself, your daughter, your family and God and heal from your past in order to grow. Trust me No matter what YOU WILL SURVIVE.... SOMETIMES THE ONLY WAY OUT IS THE WAY THROUGH.... I LEARNED THAT THE HARD WAY AND IT SAVED MY LIFE.....
