Unlocking Bluetooth on the Samsung MU6290 - RTINGS.com

In this video we will show you how to unlock Bluetooth features on compatible sizes of the Samsung MU6290 to provide the same features as the more expensive MU6300.
Note that changing the Service Menu may invalidate your warranty or cause irreparable damage, so if you follow this guide then make sure to only adjust the settings shown.

Thank you for a well made video with well-explained instructions. Your remote button sequence Mute-1-8-2-Power did indeed work to gain access to the service menu with my Samsung UN46H5203 bought from Costco US in 2014. But after switching on BT Support in MRT Options, and BT Audio in the Engineer Option menu, there was no Bluetooth because as you clarified, there must be no Bluetooth hardware in this model as indicated by BT Address saying "Not support".

Received a new Samsung 7100 4k tv from Verizon. Our bluetooth head phones/buds connected the first day than dropped off two weeks later. Followed your instructions and found two of the four settings were not set. Turned both on, and reset. When we entered settings/sound the headphones came right up. Bam! Thank you again.

I just did this on my 75 inch and at first it didn’t work but after a couple of days I went back to double check the settings were updated I realized some changes didn’t save. I made the changes again and boom! It’s now working. Paired some audio technica headphones, beats and a jbl Bluetooth speaker! Pretty awesome to get a free upgrade on model un75mu6290. Doesn't work on 43" NU6900. Service Menu changes made in MRT option and Engineering. The Blue tooth speaker option appears in Sound Menu but then TV searches but is unable to detect the Bluetooth speaker/s. Observed that BT address stays as 'Not Supported' even after putting BT Support 'On". Any insights will be appreciated as why that might be happening. Additionally, TVs default menu gives option to add bluetooth keyboard and mouse but even they are not pairing with any existing microsoft bt keybd/ mouse.

I paused the video, and the Rtings.com gentleman has 'Not Support' also, after he changes the settings. So I think that's normal. Nothing to change there. For him, Bluetooth finds items to pair. For me, no. I also have the same issue as you. My info is: un55mu6290fxza, Series 6, Version No. CA07

If you have BN59-012 series remote, try this to go to service menu Info => Settings => Mute => Power. I really had a hard time to find out this but you don't if it works for you. Thanks to Rtings for this video

yes, I have a BN59-012 series smart remote, and I used the regular tv remote to do the sequence and it turns the tv on when I am done pushing the sequence buttons, but no service menu pops up...if I ever get the service menu does pop up, do I then hold the 2 buttons on the smart remote to pair, or what do I do once the menu pops up?

Yep, that's probably the problem, and seems to imply that there is no actual bluetooth device in that model. If you watch closely in the video, before he turns on the bluetooth option "BT ADDRESS" says "NOT SUPPORT", but when he changes "BT SUPPORT" to "yes" a MAC appears in "BT ADDRESS". If yours doesn't do that (just like mine), then it's not going to work

My question is why Samsung's sound changes back to tv speakers instead of staying on receiver through HDMI. I just bought this tv, but it sounds like it has been an issue for over a year on multiple models that Samsung just chooses to ignore. I too tried with the model you mentioned. Key combination is slightly different. Press info--settings--mute--power. Then follow the same menus as in the video.

Thanks I have done it twice for my TV. Yes twice some how the settings were erase or my kids playing around changed them but with the 2 menu way you show ( mute 1-1-9 enter ) and the one on the video I was able to fix my settings again and bluetooth is working perfect on my Samsung TV UM40MU6290.

@@elirezek1 i have the same NU7100 and it doesnt have bluetooth hardware installed so we wont find it, meanwhile we can try putting bluetooth dongle in Tv usb port and see if it recognizes our bluetooth speakers. if if anyone tries let us know please

@@berjkara1 I think it has Bluetooth hardware for input and smart devices but not for audio out. I have the same TV model, Got Bluetooth working for my smart phone, wireless keyboard and Windows 10 laptop but not been able to connect any speaker devices such as my headphones or LG soundbar. Not sure if it would have the software drivers to support a Bluetooth USB dongle but will definitely give it go.

I was able to change the BT SUPPORT ON, but the setting BT ADDRESS continues to be "Not support", unlike it changes [from blank] to "54:BD:79:20:7A:2B" in your case, Daniel. In other words, it appears that my TV (49"" MU6290) does not have have hardware support for BT, even though the software support may be standard (for all Smart Samsung TVs). I think this has been pointed out in another comment below! Thanks all the same, Daniel!

Yes, I tried several times to pair the speaker. The speaker itself may be the issue, other devices recognize the MU6290s bluetooth signal so it must be transmitting?

Greg Patino yup if other devices recognise, it's the speaker that may be the issue. Is the speaker already paired with another device?
