Hey Jose, sorry for bothering. I am aware you have a lot of ICC certifications. I was hoping if you didnt mind, make a video showing how you studied, or what was your certification order and so on? It would be SUPER helpful. Im currently certified for residential inspector and permit technician. Been studying for a commercial inspector for months but the information is very dense and is tough to study without the first hand experience. Any advice is appreciated!

I am hoping that you might be able to help me. I am having a house built in Florida and the contractor made an error while making two door entrances. In order to correct the error he added cement to the bottom of the doorway and ground of a couple of inches of the Lintel in order to make the doors fit on one of the doors the threshold is not even touching the cement and is being supported by shims. How would I find out if this is now a code violation, I am sure the contractor will not replace it out of the goodness of their heart

Hi Art. It depends; for example what is the ceiling separating? And what I mean is, is the ceiling separating one dwelling unit from another, or a dwelling unit from some other occupancy (business, storage?); is the building of wood frame construction?; is the building sprinklered? You can find prescriptive requirements in Table 721.1(3) of the California Building Code ; follow the left column of the Table titled "Floor or Roof Construction" and assuming the question is specific to wood floor construction, items #21 - #30 of the Table is where you will find wood floor construction assemblies For further research, Table 508.4 of the CBC shows the fire "separation" requirements between occupancies in "hours."
