About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

The Trompe l'oeil is spectacular. You are doing a great job. My aunt was a French Polisher. She worked on the panelling of the Queen Mary. Watching Terry and Tracy work on the panels, though a different technique , reminded me of watching her work. It was as if she caressed the wood. It was a laborious job but so worth it. Your work will be the same. Of that I am sure. Well done!

My brother used to do trompe l’oeil finishes - I’ve never had a shred of artistic talent, and I could never see the final product in my mind as he went through the steps. Hello Terry and Tracy. Wonderful job! I just realized that my American dad used the same process on a small piece of furniture I now have in my bedroom. Its like a dry sink with black tear drop drawer handles. The faux wood looks similar. Your room will look stunning when completed!

The exact term you want is " faux bois." Painting and graining wood to make a cheaper wood look more exotic or expensive. Trompe l'oeil is usually reserved for either painted scenery or architectural features wanted but not present; I. E. A window with a scenic view on an interior wall... Hope that clears things up! Wonderful work. It will be mind blowing when finished. Huge fan of all of you!

I remember 30 years ago we bought a new front door that was manufactured to look like it was a six-panel solid wood. It came with a "stain" product that you brushed on, leaving darker and lighter coverage, to look like wood grain. I was so surprised, it was BEAUTIFUL!

That paint effect is going to look fantastic! I wasn't sure about the yellow at first until I remembered that the human eye can pick up colours through something like 11 layers and you'd need the yellow to give that warm richness to the tone of the effect.

I say over and over "Just trust the process".. I have been to the Vaile Mansion in Independence Missouri, where i first got to see tromp de' olie . ( found a video of it here on KZbin.) The builder had imported skilled Italian artists because there was no way fine woods were to be shipped on the railroad then. And then there was a Brit owner of a chateau in France where she made wooden skirting boards look like marble......just trust the process! Like seeing how that it is made! 🌳🌳🌳🌳

The stain being darker in all the crevices will give it an aged look too. I use antiquing glaze to age furniture. It’s wonderful on paneling. You’re getting the same effect. It’ll be beautiful
