Two completely different things….. I LOVE the thoughtfully designed trails that Todd’s creating. I grew up on our family island that my dad homesteaded in Sitka, Alaska. As a kid, the youngest, and only girl, I played in the woods alone for hours. On trails that led to places like a rope swing, treehouse, fort built from spruce & cedar branches, oh, and the outhouse! It was truly magical. I especially loved the trails that were naturally created by a blanket of tree needles and looked like carpet but many of the functional trails that led to important places had muddy spots, branches or fallen trees across the path, or really narrow areas where I was terrified that I’d fall walking through. I fantasized about having trails like Todd is creating and would have made it happen if I hadn’t of been 8. Anyways, my father hid colorful little ceramic animals, characters, and fairies 🧚 all throughout the trails and it was enchanting. So I’m passing along that idea to T&T to make their trails magical. I got the joke when “Beaver” became the topic in the kayaks. I laughed so much my belly ached. I had a chauvinistic brother that referred to hot girls as “Beavers”. It was repulsive hearing that.

Guys, I do not recommend goats. They may occasionally eat grass but they are browsers (bushes, plants, and trees etc) not grazers (grass). I live off grid and my old neighbors refused to fence their goats (3). They killed several mature fruit trees, small fir trees and almost all bush type plants over a 5 acre area. If you decide to work with goats, do loads of research first. Good luck! PS. I vote for the "I feel cheap" merch

I LOVE the Todd monologues when he is working on his own. Especially when he is painting and drinking wine. Who knows what is going through his head but whatever it is, it's bouncing around in there at a hundred miles and hour!! I spray my lawn with sulphate of iron every spring and it kills the moss. Just don't let the dogs walk over it then jump on the bed. That happened to me and I had rusty dog paw prints over a very expensive duvet cover which is now a paint drop cloth. Years ago when having to fill in where an old swimming pool had been we found the best leveller ever was dragging a pipe farm gate around like harrows. Ended up with a lovely level lawn.

Creeping perennials! We have them instead of grass, and they prettier! We have creeping phlox, white clover, and heather. They don't grow high enough to be much bother, and they are gorgeous in bloom. We're in southeast US, so likely different plants would be needed up there, but it's worth looking into!

I know that The Land is a long-standing dream for you, but I think the lake house has an idyllic charm being by the water, which I would choose over living in the greater confines of the woods.
