that's how it is for most phones sold by wireless carriers in the United States. I doubt you have the "Exynos" version of the phone (as I point out in the title of this video)

What if you have a verizon phone never been activated with the sim in it how do I ulock it then? Cause my brothers had his for a year and still don't have the OEM setting that is here..

The thing is. Performing this on a exynos S9 Oem unlock is ticked. I reboot into download mode but I don't get the option to choose device unlock

did you use the USB method for booting into download mode? you need to use that specific method

no. rooting the phone requires the bootloader to be unlocked. but unlocking the bootloader does not mean it is rooted. think of it as step 1 of a two step process

As long as you buy one with the "Exynos" SoC, the process is all the same (and is all easy as long as you follow the steps in the full tutorial)

Hi thanks for this. I managed to follow your steps and successfully added a hong kong rom in my chinese S20 snapdragon. The problem i have now is that although all google services work, google pay wont work because it says my phone is rooted or oem unlocked. I cant unlock it since the option is now grayed out and online suggests using Magisk, but i cant find a working TWRP version for the S20 snapdragon. Any ideas?

I have yet to do a Galaxy S20 root tutorial since you need to use the Canary version of Magisk (I don't like doing videos of beta versions of releases. We're currently waiting on the developer to release the full/stable version that works with dynamic partitions. But you can install the canary version if you'd like. There's a guide in the XDA Galaxy S20 forums that you can follow. But I'm still going to wait until the final version of Magisk is released so I don't recommend people install buggy code.

@@ExplainingAndroid Yeah i tried, problem is that the TWRP verion available for the snapdragon version of the S20 does not seem to work properly. Uploads fine via Odin but then the phone just stays in the download screen with no way to get out unless you reinstall the custom or old firmware and you cant install mgisk without twrp so now im stuck with a brand new S20 that i cant really use since i need googlepay and other bank apps :(

@@alexcapurro6114 I'm not familiar with why you need TWRP. Find the XDA thread, it will guide you on patching your firmware file with Magisk Manager (watch my Galaxy Note 10 Magisk root video on my channel, the process is almost identical). There could be something specific with the S20 that requires TWRP now, but I'm 99% sure this is not the case. I rooted my S20 to test the process but noticed it bootlooped a few times before I got it right and Magisk was installed properly (this is why I'm holding off on doing the tutorial, I think the bootloops I experienced were from the app being in beta)
