I was excited. Thought it could ramp up and down like a wavemaker but no its just a basic pump

****FYI**** At about 2:30 into the video you inserted the return hose inside the adaptor fitting as a slip fit. This is not the correct way this should be done. The Axis pump is supplied with two different size fittings 5/8th inch & 3/4 inch for different applications. You have managed to incorrectly use both fittings in this demonstration. These measurements refer to the inside diameter of the return hose being used. The appropriate fitting needs to be used. If you do not know the size tubing being worked with measure it with a tape measure or ruler. The return hose is supposed to firmly slide over top of the barbed portion of the included fitting. A hose clamp should be used, to keep the hose from coming off. The way you are demonstrating the installation could result in return hose coming apart inside the overflow box. This can result in a major water overflow issue causing significant damages to someone's house or possible loss of life due to electrical shock given the right circumstances with water and electricity.

Yea if only he labeled it as an "issue". Clearly he has a 1/2" hose . Which most AIO aquariums that could possible use the Axis 40 have , so I’m not sure why AI in all there wisdom decide to make the two fittings 0.625" and 3/4". Now for the most obvious, as previously stated this is a AIO aquarium, your not going to have any overflow issue resulting from anything to do with the return pump . It’s physically impossible . You’re being hyperbolic and cringy . Is it good practice, NO . Is it going to matter on a AIO, NO.

@@jaredlynch8020 That's not what he meant, so the cringe is real with you broham. If the hose comes dislodged the pump is going to shoot a ton of water into the air and all over your room.

@@pblogic007 you really said broham and cringe in the same sentence? Unironically?

@@jaredlynch8020I have 30 years of experience working with pumps & lines of all kinds. I did not exaggerate anything, What I stated is 100% factual. By pushing the return line inside the fitting as a slip fit is NOT a secure connection. The pressure / vibration of a 400 gallon per hour pump can cause the hose to become disconnected inside the AIO reservoir. The pump will continue to pump / draw water from the tank overflowing the capacity of the AIO reservoir compartment. At least until the water level inside the tank drops below the weir. This can still be a very significant loss of water and given the right circumstances could absolutely be deadly. So forgive me if you think I am being Cringy.

Can you use this to vary the pump throughout the day, so you hit different parts of the tank? That way you save a wavemaker??
@whatthereef
@whatthereef 3 ай бұрын
Just constant speeds. Doing what you want, wouldn’t that affect your ato level sensor?

@@whatthereef what about if it’s an all in one tank like a water box mini and you don’t use an ato? Would that work, so you could have high flow some times and low flow at other times??

@pn7836 I used this on a waterbox cube 20. I mean if you’re going to top off manually then I guess you would be fine. If you want flow I would just get a wave maker!

@pn7836 if its a 10 gallon this pump might be too much! Just use the pump they give with the waterbox 10 cube if your getting a waterbox?

Hey mate, Could you please answer if you know this? Would it be possible for you to test out the pump at around 40-50% speed and soaked in water from a vertical level of around 60%, 70%, 80% and see if it still works without any noises or anything? Thinking to get this one for my paludarium but it can only cover the height of the pump to about 70% or so. Thanks!!

Should still be quiet the motor is super silent! I am starting on the cube 20 again and using this pump so when I do I can test that

In such an aquarium, I used the Sicce Syncra Silent 1.0 pump to start with and the noise was unbearable. I replaced it with the pump from the kit and now it's quiet. I'm waiting for Axis to appear in Europe to install it 😁
