What’s your goal 🥅 to complete by the end of the year?
@kimdunn97963 жыл бұрын
This concept is universal and has been discovered, shared and finally was offered to the masses. “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill was written a century ago and is STILL active in print and selling! One of the the most notable “presentations” is “The Secret”. This IS how we create our reality. I recently read an article written by a Quantum Physicist proving how thoughts (as quantum energy) create/transfer [thought] energy to matter.

I have been starting to fight off depression, anxiety, and OCD since this september 2020. I decided enough was enough, I had already had two years of exhaustion from all the negativity I was spinning in my own mind. A bloke named John Glanvill has an excellent patreon page and creates videos to help those going through these things and one video he specifically talks about the RAS. I finally decided to venture out and do a little more research on it and I'm so glad I found this video. The way you explain it is great Blaine. Just what I needed today.

I really enjoyed this talk and I’m overzealous thinking about RAS as a concept being planted in the minds of millions through TED. I’ve known about this idea for a while now and before I knew it had been investigated scientifically I called it the Selective Perceptual System. In a sense, this is an intuition based behavior and you can get far more creative than “WYTAYBA!” That’s not to say that it was a bad idea just that this is a tool that one can really personalize so they can better identify the patterns that arise..

First of all… Condolences to your father! So sorry to hear about that. Second of all congratulations on your son who I think would be a little more than one. Third of all thank you thank you thank you for this. I've been knowingAbout the reticular activating system for about 15 years and have not consciously taken advantage of it. No it's Powerful! I am in to self development But what was really illuminating for me was taking deliberate action right after I learned something new so Powerful. Start to Embody all the information that I've learned one step at a time. Another epiphany for me was I grew up in To trauma and have a tendency of dwelling in the bad child that I had. Which I think it stopped me in my love life. I deserve to program my RES to attract things that I truly deserve. Consciously and deliberately. God bless you God bless you God bless you! I woke up this morning and the first quote that came to mind really resonated which was… "When the student is ready the teacher will appear please let me know if you have any educational information you'd like to Share. Sound. Vision and Smell don't go though the RAS. The RAS is not capable of sophisticated actions or any process at all like this. You need the Cortex and the Thalamus (sorting coordinating and processing) to and the Hippocampus (memory) to conceptualise anything. Without the hippocampus you wouldn’t remember what a siren was. The RAS primary job is controlling wakefulness, sleep and relative alertness. It is not the only part of the brain that does this but is the most well know. The Thalamus is its immediate boss.
@colliemon5 жыл бұрын
Hey I know this is like a year old but I feel like you're very slightly casting a shadow on the RAS which is something that needs more light shined on it. I consider sleep to be a sophisticated task not only for the regenerative effects but obviously REM and the visualization/dream factor itself. Constructing a new dream out of your old memory will always seem impressive to me. Like you said the thalamus is its immediate boss and is practically the hub for a person's grip on consciousness, so anything controlled by it should be studied in high regard.

Ryan - I actually have one of the original vinyl records of Earl's famous talk! It is well worth the lesson. I learned quite a bit from Earl and Napoleon Hill. Earl's "We become what we think about" is similar to my WYTAYBA - what you think about about you bring about. Mine is a little more action oriented as we bring it about. We take it a little farther by using the unlock screen on our smartphones to remind us of goal over 100 times a day. That's the part that has been working well for people. It's a modern adaptation of the little card Earl would have you carry around and look at all day. I would recommend any of Earl's programs.

Heres a description of the RAS, cant see how this is relating to what he is saying. So im calling BS on this. Humans have three sleep and arousal states: waking, asleep (resting or slow-wave sleep), and asleep and dreaming (paradoxical, active, or rapid eye movement sleep). These states are controlled by the reticular activating system located in the mesopons, which interacts with descending reticulospinal and ascending hypothalamic, basal forebrain, and thalamocortical systems. These three states develop and occur in a predictable manner, and we can explain these states according to the firing properties of neurons based on their intrinsic membrane properties, their synaptic and neurochemical connectivity, and their responsiveness to sensory inputs. This article describes the characteristics of mechanisms mediating sleep and arousal, their neurological substrates, and the cellular, neurochemical, and network properties of those substrates.
@blaineoelkers61535 жыл бұрын
The RAS actually does a lot and the function I was talking about is in it's ability to let information in through all the noise and stimuli of life as described in the section on Habituation: The reticular formation consists of more than 100 small neural networks, with varied functions including the following: Somatic motor control - Some motor neurons send their axons to the reticular formation nuclei, giving rise to the reticulospinal tracts of the spinal cord. These tracts function in maintaining tone, balance, and posture-especially during body movements. The reticular formation also relays eye and ear signals to the cerebellum so that the cerebellum can integrate visual, auditory, and vestibular stimuli in motor coordination. Other motor nuclei include gaze centers, which enable the eyes to track and fixate objects, and central pattern generators, which produce rhythmic signals of breathing and swallowing. Cardiovascular control - The reticular formation includes the cardiac and vasomotor centers of the medulla oblongata. Pain modulation - The reticular formation is one means by which pain signals from the lower body reach the cerebral cortex. It is also the origin of the descending analgesic pathways. The nerve fibers in these pathways act in the spinal cord to block the transmission of some pain signals to the brain. Sleep and consciousness - The reticular formation has projections to the thalamus and cerebral cortex that allow it to exert some control over which sensory signals reach the cerebrum and come to our conscious attention. It plays a central role in states of consciousness like alertness and sleep. Injury to the reticular formation can result in irreversible coma. Habituation - This is a process in which the brain learns to ignore repetitive, meaningless stimuli while remaining sensitive to others. A good example of this is a person who can sleep through loud traffic in a large city, but is awakened promptly due to the sound of an alarm or crying baby. Reticular formation nuclei that modulate activity of the cerebral cortex are part of the ascending reticular activating system.[9][10]

A question: Can RAS be mistakenly taken by intuition (insight)?
@BlaineOelkers4 жыл бұрын
Magda 13 I think the RAS and intuition can work together. You can focus your attention on what you want and the RAS will pick out things and bring them to your active mind. Then it’s up to your intuition to act on that information from the RAS. Does that make sense?
