I didn't really catch anything about this in your video and I'm been looking around for a good answer: Do antlers contain more of one compound over another? Is there any reason for a small scale grower to strive for large conks? Other than spore collection? With some species, like Cordyceps, we grow them slower. Not looking for large fruits because we want to concentrate the compounds. Is it possible to do something similar with Reishi?

We had a husky named Cha Cha who had seizures. Meds were killing her , and did eventually destroy her liver ( IMHO). I started giving her chaga dual extract ( alcohol cooked off) and we reduced her meds and she had a couple "good " months before she took a turn and passed. The chaga really seemed to help. I have my current dogs on it and cut out bread and they get either grass-fed beef of venison stew with there nuggets, every day. I raise beef so if I butcher myself I get about a trash barrel full of food to cook down and freeze. A good year of hunting the same 2-3 deer will yield up about 30-40 lbs of trimmings, innards and parts I dont want. Love my fur babies.

I was out scouting for reishi in the eastern Adirondacks today. 80 degrees, a little humid and I'm, almost 64. About a half mile in I was starting to melt down. This was like my 3rd water break when I remembered I brought my secret weapon. This is a chaga dual extract mixed cranberry juice and a splash of reishi dual x. Well I didn't exactly run out but had plenty of energy to finish the hike. I know some are thinking , wow a mile hike , way to go granpa , but this is Adirondack lite not a yuppie state trail. 🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:57 🍄 *Reishi (ganoderma lucidum) is a powerful medicinal mushroom with a rich history in traditional Chinese medicine, known for promoting vitality, immune support, cardiovascular health, and longevity.* 02:13 🌱 *Reishi mushrooms, cultivated for supplementation, differ in appearance from wild ones, forming a large conch shape with a shiny surface. They are polypore mushrooms with important spores for potential health benefits.* 04:52 🌿 *Reishi's health benefits come from compounds like beta-glucans, triterpenes, and sterols. Beta-glucans, water-soluble carbohydrates, survive digestion and impact immune function. Triterpenes, fat-soluble, may have anti-inflammatory effects.* 07:35 💪 *Reishi is known as an immunomodulator, supporting the immune system by increasing natural killer cells, T cell and B cell counts, enhancing cell-mediated immunity, and improving antibody responses.* 08:29 🔥 *Research suggests that Reishi may reduce inflammation, potentially modulating the immune system's response and addressing chronic inflammatory reactions associated with various health conditions.* 09:42 ❤️ *Reishi may positively influence cardiovascular health by affecting blood lipid levels, exhibiting antioxidant activity, and potentially impacting blood pressure, contributing to heart disease prevention.* 10:24 😴 *Reishi's high concentration of triterpenes may aid in improving sleep quality, making it easier to fall asleep and providing opportunities for the body's repair and recovery during rest.* 10:52 🧘♀️ *Reishi shows potential in reducing stress, with studies suggesting antidepressant activity, indicating benefits for mood and mental well-being.* 11:35 🍄 *Reishi spores, rich in beneficial compounds, can be collected, extracted, and used for medicinal purposes similar to the fruiting body. They contain beta-glucans, triterpenes, ganoceric acids, and ganoderic acids.* 14:29 ⚠️ *When choosing a Reishi supplement, ensure it is made from whole fruiting body, thoroughly extracted, preferably dual extracted, and organic. Quality varies, so it's essential to choose a trustworthy product to experience the potential benefits.*

Fantastic video! Just to expand slightly on the segment starting at 14:34 - always aim to choose a supplement that contains not just the fruiting body but the *mycelial biomass* as well (everything that grows below the ground you can't see). Most cheap supplements will contain grain, like you said, or will contain the fruiting body only. However many of the therapeutic and health benefits are gained from consuming any mushroom in its entirety.

Another really good video. Just found your site and you have a new subscriber! Love the detail and the fact you site your sources. The love of all things mycelium (which I just find super fascinating) also comes through when you talk which is another plus.

I think at some point I'll try to soak one if these in cognac for 24 hours, the throw them into a 6-hour minimum short rib braise. That'd add a mushrooms flavor to the braise and yet the alcohol soaking and hot water would hopefully extract some of those important health benefits from the fruiting body.

Good idea. Longer may be better for extraction though.

Does anyone know if reishi (or any of the other mushrooms offered here) will aggravate autoimmune conditions or calm down autoimmunity? I mean in high probability? I would like to take some to calm my body in general as well as see if it can help with my autoimmune disease but dont want to make the autoimmune disease worse. thanks.

I've heard that as well and use the "nubs", as I call them in my own dual extracts. They are to slice so I do an extra long soak.

Shrooms are a powerful psychedelic with a long history of recreational, medicinal, and spiritual use worldwide. Still, psychedelics can be unpredictable, and experts advise anyone interested in using them to start with a low dose and seek counseling from a medical professional.

I found some growing in South Africa in a forest, never thought I would see this in the wild...currently in extraction process. Cleaning it was a mission as pieces of grass got stuck in it but was able to get it all sorted over an hour of cutting away at it. I believe there are no look-a-likes and it was a beautiful red colour all glossed up...I have since found a second spot with them growing. Next on my list to find is turkey's tail.

@@rakshamoodley6410 Hi, i have been finding them all over gauteng from november to jan, Ive found in magaliesburg, bryanston, delta park and blairgowrie so far. I would steer clear of ones growing near roads due to serious pollutants/metals. If you need more info just reply to this.

Can you dry it, grind it, encapsulate it and take it daily to get all the effects mentioned? Or would it not work bc of the short time through the digestion?
@tbrandx23 жыл бұрын
I tried dehydrating some reishi and then grinding them up in a Vitamix so that I could put them in capsules like I've done with lion's mane but the 'powder' of reishis resemble airy fluff rather than a powder. In your video you show a reddish powder(13:25). Would you mind describing the steps you take?

Great video, thanks! I have these growing in my garden, but I have my first indoor ones ever starting to pin now. Any idea if there is a difference in beta glucans and terpines in the final product between plain past sawdust vs nutrified sawdust vs log grown vs wild? Id be very curious to learn more on that. Also, do you know any good resources to understand extraction efficacy at different times and temps for water and ethanol extraction methods? I really want to improve my tinctures. Thanks!

Thank you. I highly recommend that, after doing your own research, you try Reishi. Its closer to a real panacea than Ginseng is. I use it about once a year for about six weeks. And normally use between six to eight grams in two divided doses, one in the morning and another at sunset. It does have a great many benefits. I've been using it now for almost fifteen years. Good luck. Laoshr #60 Ching Yi Kung Fu Association
