Never had this problem, or at least never paid attention to it. I want to massively thank you for your series of incredibly professional videos. you have saved me thousands of dollars already doing my own routine maintenance, and thousands more when I upgrade the intercooler and coolant lines shortly. I had 60's muscle cars and was very comfortably working on them but always was intimidated by late model cars. no more, thanks to you. Seriously, man you saved me thousands $$ and gave me confidence to wrench on my own car again.

This is a great video for getting an idea as to the problem the CDV causes. Most definitely the 1st to 2nd changes. I change gears fast and found myself constantly grinding the gear slightly as I put it in 2nd on fast acceleration and change most times. Other gears weren’t too bad but that change was always bad and put me off accelerating as fast in 1st gear as I didn’t want to damage the gearbox, which made general acceleration slow. 2:26 is such a good description of the issue and this video helped me realise that it isn’t just me not being able to change gear with this gearbox just after getting my 240i. After watching this video I got it done. It’s a really easy removal and once it’s done the gear changes are so much better. In my opinion it makes the car feel more connected as a whole and completely changes the feel. Most certainly recommend doing it as, in my opinion, it’s a night and day difference in the completion of the car. Thanks for the great video mate!

I'm having that 1>2 grind as well in my 2018 M2, its so annoying! Did removing the CDV solve that issue? Going to get the CDV taken out in a few days.

@@danielhaneyvideoheya yea it’s so annoying hahaha, I still get it occasionally but the CDV definitely made the gear changes better overall and helped with it. I’d highly recommend it. Also another thing is a clutch stop. Only like £5 and it goes under the clutch pedal to reduce the excess travel of the pedal after the engagement point. It has one already but the aftermarket one is larger. You can get various sizes based off personal preference. Goes so well with the CDV. So easy to fit too, you just pull out the old one and push the other one in the hole under the pedal. You can do it yourself in 30 seconds lol. Besides that I’m not sure as I still get it occasionally :/ I don’t think the gearbox is really meant for fast 1>2 shifts but it has to be done lol. I’m just gonna keep trying things to solve it and looking around to try and find something proper useful but yea, the CDV delete and the clutch stop help quite a bit with it (but don’t totally stop it it seems) but the overall improvement they make on the gear changes overall and the feel of the car and the engagement is crazy. Soooo much better it makes the car way more engaging overall. Keep me updated if you hear anything!

@@danielhaneyvideo have you tried a different grip just for 1-2 changes? I think it likes it best if you hold the outside of the stick (left side in RHD configuration) and pull it in hard. Only just found it out but think it helps. 3rd to 2nd etc has always been totally fine whatever way I do it

I didn’t notice a huge difference either on my G80. 1st & 2nd grab harder for sure. It’s a bit jerkier in those gears but it’s much more consistent.

Great video. I definitely have the rough first to second shifts, but the worst is the driveway scenario you describe where the car Judders as you engage the clutch to creep slowly forward or leave a full stop. Only sometimes though. Removing the CDV soon. Since making your video, did that judder stay away?

I heard you mention the pedal delay when trying to rev match on downshifts, did you feel the pedal became more sensitive or do you still have to hold it down an extra split second?

I did this when I installed gotuned single mass flywheel and twin disc clutch on my f22. I constantly had problems when shifting gears fast on the highway during acceleration my foot was faster than what the pedal could do. (pressing clutch was to slow and I was pulling out the gears while releasing the clutch was too slow that I had to wait before opening the gas again. ( not many people know of this mod because very few F series are manual and even less drive fast enough to notice this clutch problem. GREAT VIDEO!
@jonnynatali2436
@jonnynatali2436 Жыл бұрын
I would like to add: 1. This mod is good only for experienced manual users that want a direct pedal that will let you dump the clutch when needed. It's going to be less forgiving when you mess up starting from a stand steel. 2. The pedal bleed doesn't work. At least for me because the line was completely empty when I did the job.

Nice video but your problems were not caused by the clutch delay valve. What the clutch delay valve does is slow down the engagement speed when you quickly release the clutch pedal. The clutch delay valve is there to save the drivetrain from fast engagement. The valve slows down the engagement speed when you quickly step off the clutch pedal like a clutch dump. During normal driving or normal clutch pedal speed, the clutch delay valve does very little. You also cannot bleed the clutch slave cylinder like your brake by pumping it because it doesn't have a spring inside the clutch master cylinder to help the pedal return to its normal position. You normally have to push and pull the clutch pedal manually with your hand or feet. If your clutch is engaged (foot off the pedal) and your transmission pops out of gear, its something else like a bad transmission or aftermarket shifter. When you bleed the clutch slave cylinder, you might have to remove the slave cylinder to tilt it so the bleed nipple is at the highest orientation possible. Some cars will have the bleed nipple pointed downwards or at a slight decline which can trap air. If your clutch engages low in the pedal's range of motion, you have air trapped in the slave cylinder.

I realize this is a BMW I own a 2017 Toyota IM, my car also bobs from a start and 1-2; it also has the world's most numb clutch, if you need to go fast you will either burn the clutch or stall no inbetween. This car demands to be driven leisurely otherwise any kind of spirited acceloration and its bob city. will this give me any feeling in the clutch?
