This is one of the (many) reasons I like heath ledger more. A story I remember hearing is that heath rarely was in character out of filming. When joker threatened Rachel in that one party scene when he put the knife to her mouth, that was the first time the actor that played Rachel saw heath in character. Her being terrified and trying to get away was real. She had not seen how scary he was until then. And after filming, he went back to being that lovable guy and made sure everyone was okay. Truly the goat.
