Man these troops do not receive the gratitude that they should. They are doing something in my eyes that is extremely important. Helping the absolute helpless and also keeping the helpless from turning into the enemy because they see nothing other than the evil that is constantly on there front door. @@vicvincevitaly i hope they changed since the Srebrenitca disaster, but in that conflict contigents from different countries sure had different approaches. I know the Canadians litterally would invade the no mans land between two armies trying to stop their advance, that was very gutsy and they would gun down combatants that threatened civillian supply convoys, no questions asked and the French were active in retaking strategic points to prevent threats to civillian population.

A lot of Portuguese forces come from 2nd generation immigrants who left Portugal, buddy had to move there for 3 years once he turned 18 since dual CDN-Portugal citizenship and Canada doesn't have a "conscription" policy so Portugal's takes priority.

its good the UN has “teeth” now. there was a time when the UN couldn’t do anything and the atrocity being done was right in front of them. in fairness, it’s because the UN leadership at that time didn’t have “teeth” so the boots in the ground had to stand down even if they wanted to react. some UN troops were even disarmed. i pity the commanders on the ground assigned at that time.

A few years ago, Japan also enacted a law that would allow it to participate in PKF combat missions, but it is difficult for the SDF to compete and public opinion. If Japan participates in a combat mission, it will be like the Dutch army of Srebrenica massacre or the Canadian army of Rwandan Genocide. The Portuguese army is amazing.
