Putting Bob Costello on the witness stand was clear old Don jostling the elbows of his defense team to "keep hitting at Cohen" and forgetting that the Prosecutors could not only impeach Costello but point out that Trump wanted Cohen's silence which corroborated Cohen through the back door. None of this matters. There is almost definitely someone who is a strong Trump supporter who made it on the jury and wouldn't vote to convict him even if he openly admitted knowingly committing a crime. Trump will never be convicted of anything because he's such a polarizing figure that nobody can sit on that jury without bias. You either have 12 jurors who dislike him and are willing to convict, or you have at least 1 that will never convict. The facts don't matter. The law doesn't matter. To convict him, you'd need 12 jurors that are biased against him, even if he did commit a crime, which I believe he did. Then, there are appeals and all the rest. This is all pointless. The best we can do is to make sure he doesn't get elected again.
@natlegendАй бұрын
If one juror dissents from the rest, they actually have to explain their reasoning. So a Trump "spy" wouldn't get away with that.

How is it bad for Trump when the "star" witness admits he stole $60,000 from him?
@timknight2834Ай бұрын
It was $30k but if you are generally asking this you are completely missing the premise of the case, The prosecution is saying that the payemts to Cohen were for the hush money and business records were falsified, the defence that payment ms were for a legal retainer for services rendered. If the $30k was stolen by Cohen it actually corroborates the prosecution claim and destroys the defence argument ( he couldn’t have stolen the money if it was for legal services rendered), it may put Cohen in a bad light but he is not on trial. The defence was so hell bent on trying to discredit Cohen they actually help prove the prosecution case

The final arguments are about what elements constitute the law(s), and then applying them to the facts. If all the elements are fulfilled, than the defendant has been found to be guilty. It should be pretty much straightforward. "These are the laws. The lawyers have presented the facts. Now, do your job as jury." I never heard of jury instructions about cellphones.

Except that no facts were presented that met the "beyond a reasonable doubt" criteria. Everything presented either were presented by a convicted liar or ambiguous in meaning and intent.

@@sherimatukonis6016 No. Pecker. The other attorney. Daniels. Cohen. And then the defense witness Costello corroborated most everything Cohen said. That's quite a quotient of evidence. Facts presented are facts. It's the jury's job to determine the level of proof or credibility. Then there was deafening silence from Trump. I'm sure the jury took note of that fact.

@@sherimatukonis6016 Except "reasonable doubt" means something different to each individual. And since you are presumably not sitting in the court room and presumably not on the jury, you do not know if that standard has been met.

Terrible decision to postpone until Tuesday. Of the trial had ended Thursday, OK. But to allow this much time for jurors to get threatened or confused? The defense caught a break.

Particularly those emails that the prosecution sunk Costello with. Absolute proof that defendant Trump was in control of the falsifying of records.
